I will soon be changing my front rotors and pads.

I have looked all around for a review on EBC Brake Disc Ultimax blackdash, but can't come with very much. My 06 Coupe is a DD, so I don't need crazy performance, just a nudge up from OEM. I don't track it either, and I drive it in the winter.

I don't think the rotors will make that much of a difference, but more the pads. I thought of going with Akebono ProAct Ceramic. I've read many posts with positive comments on these pads for OEM replacements.

Waddaya think?

My G won't need pads for some time yet, but I put a set of the Akebonos on my BMW and they are outstanding. They stop just as well as my OEM pads (that says a lot, factory BMW pads are excellent) with a lot less dust. I felt the price was reasonable too. Definite recommend!

Alright I read enough good comments about the Akebonos. So I will be getting those.

Now, anyone know about the EBC discs? Nobody seems to know anything about them!

How much do you plan on spending for that setup?

Pads will either be

Posi Quiet (Extended wear)Axxis (Deluxe)Akebonos

Im expecting between $300-$400 (since I'm in Canada) and its a DD+winter

i just did front powerSlot cryo rotors and hawk hps pads last month...

this combination is not "touchy" like the stock brakes... it has a very linear and progressive brake feel now. Then these rotors are sloted and vented so they can take more of a pounding than the stock brakes. Also there is almost no dust on my wheels

the stock brakes are very good on the 2005 g35x but the strong initial bite with just a slight press of the brakes always annoyed me... this combo has less of an initial bite, but quickly builds... which i just happen to prefer...

I already had to do an sudden stop with my new brakes and i was very impressed with the stopping power... basically i had just accelerated and switch lanes, then a car in front of me switches to the same lane, but slows down in front of me... i had to slam brakes and let me say wow these brakes saved me from hitting the guy in the back... i was pissed though that he did that and gave him the finger as i passed

Well for rotors i would get brembo blanks or slotted.. I'm running Brembo slotted EBC green stuff and SS lines and its not a bad combo at all. I'm actually thinking of changing my pads to a company called Carbotech. There supposed to be a good pad.

Lets not forget that Hawk pads are good to.. Akebono pads was another choice of mine to and i think you can't go wrong with either of the 3.

The EBC's IMO leave a lot of Brake dust over a few days.. I want more of a bit to..

Keep us posted..

Ok its decided:

Discs: R1 Concepts (Premium Cross-Drilled - Slotted) http://www.r1concepts.com/INFI...tm/NA

Pads: Waiting on prices for Ferodo DS2500 and Carbotechs. If too expensive I'll get Akebonos and be done with it

I found the Carbotechs this afternoon while researching

Carbotechs are pretty expensive though....but look like amazing pads!

The dealer had put Nissan pads on my 04 Couple (bought used) and they squealed like a pig.

I replaced the fronts with Akebono Pro-act and no more squeal.THey also perform great for me!! (I do not track my car it's a DD).

Might consider the Street Performance next time...But, have been satisfied with the Pro-Act.

I will be changing my rotors and pads in a couple of weeks. I decided on Axxis (Deluxe) with premium R1 Concepts blanks.
