I need to upgrade but dont want to spend a ton of cash. I have heavy aftermarket rims that are just burning my pads up and warping my oem rotors. any suggestions for aftermarket products, i.e. cross-drilled, slotted rotors, pad type, etc.

don't waste your time with those gimmicky slotted or cross drilled rotors. If you aren't racing, or not doing any type of extreme driving then all you need are standard pads and rotors. I think ceramic pads are great but unless you are heating the hell out of your semi-metallics they don't perform any better (ceramics do much better at high heat situations). Just get decent quality. Who cares how fast your car can go if you can't stop it.

i was advised by the person who did my brakes last to get cross drilled or slotted rotors because my stock ones were getting so hot. i have seen on here recomendations for hawk hps pads and powershot rotors, but the rotors are a little pricy. i want to spend a maximum of 400 for everything.

I'll go with the Hawk pads. They are nice. Slotted rotors don't do anything for heat to my knowledge. The slots clean the pads. Cross drilled will cool off quicker. But you need to make sure the holes are chamfered to help reduce stress cracks. but on top of that as the rotor wears down the chamfers will also, which could lead to stress cracks. But if you are doing that much serious braking then it's probably best to do something to help out. Let us know how it turns out.

Powerslot Cryo treated rotors and hawk pads.

Expect to pay around $600-$800 all the way around.

The cryo treated rotors are supposed to handle heat better and have longer duty cycles.

To Start Off, Brake Performance is a Controversial Issue, Everyone has a Preference on Slotted vs. Drilled vs. Blank and they all come with their pros and cons.

Unless you plan on driving your car on the track theres no way you need slotted or drilled rotors, They're just way too expensive for what they're worth. I Use Hawk HPS with Brembo Blank (Non-Slotted/Non-Drilled) replacement Rotors and they stop plenty fine. I consider myself a spirited road driver and I've never found myself saying Ooh i wish i had those slotted or drilled rotors... They're easier to break/warp and cost way more to replace for little to no gain. I say stick with the blank rotors, $36 vs. 70-80, take your pick, for me it wasn't worth it. This decision for me was based on the advice of a professional car builder and racer who suggested i save that money and spend it on stainless lines to see a greater performance gain.

Another upgrade you may consider doing is upgrading your brake lines to stainless steel because they don't expand under heat/pressure like the normal OEM lines do. And Surprisingly, for the really cheap, a 6 dollar can of Brake Fluid can make a difference if you're using old fluid.

I Personally spent 400 in total getting 4x Brembo Replacement Rotors, Set of Hps Hawk Pads and Stainless Steel Brake lines.

where did you pick up those parts? I'm looking at having to do brakes soon myself and that sounds like a good set up.

AcMav is right. The issue is very controversial.

However, I have gone through 4 pairs of Powerslots and not one has cracked, or warped.

I also like the fact that they cut the slots in such a manner that you know when the rotor is at it's minimum thickness.

I don't consider $300/axle to be overly expensive, but that's just me. You'd spend that at the dealership for soft brakes that don't perform well.

I got my Brembo Rotors (OEM Replacement) from Tirerack (www.tirerack.com) for approx. 36 for the rears and 38 for the front. My Brake Lines and Hawk Pads came from Raceshopper, a small business (www.raceshopper.com/technafit_brake_lines.shmtl/). You have to request a quote on the brake pads but mine were at a very reasonable price. The Stainless lines were 109 with free shipping.I Went down to my local Autozone and got Valvoline Synthetic Brake Formula for 6.46

Personally I'm a student or I would be spending the 300 an axle, but sadly i cannot afford it. Just face it, the Drilled and Slotted rotors definately look cooler.

So far, the best prices, I've found on brakes is from an ebay store called sportstrailerz. They specialize in Trucks, but they're authorized dealers of Hawk and Powerslot.

Do a member search on ebay. They quoted me $65 for Hawk HPS pads and $225 for the front Powerslots SHIPPED!

So I'm looking at $285 shipped. Even the local performance shop that I have "connections" with wanted $300 for the rotors and $69 for the pads.
