new rotor intall

Ok, i installed a new rotor, but i can't get the piston back in to put the pads in. The car is an 90 240sx. Rear brakes. I tried usign a c-clampbut it won't move ini also tried twisting it in with vice grips. No luckAny ideas? I have no car to drive now

theres a tool that slips into the slot of the reaer caliper piston(if I recall correctly) to properly twist the piston back in, did you open the bleeder screw so it CAN move back?-chet

In the FSM for my '93, they just use a long-nosed pliers to turn the piston clockwise to retract it. They don't list any special tools (at least to retract the piston) in the beginning of the "Brakes" section of the FSM. As long as the pliers are narrow enough to fit in the little slots, you should be OK.

Edit: BTW, what kind of rotors did you get?

yeah, theres a little square(looks like a box) socket that fits into the pin holes on the piston...its not rqeuired, but makes turning the piston back into the caliper much easier.-chet
