Picked up my new Rogue on Monday. I noticed that the XM radio already works.

I suspect there is a "trial" period.

How long does this trial period last?

Thanks!

At some point the dealership will notify XM and it will be shut off. If you turn to channel zero or 1 (don't remeber) the screen will display your serial number. Take this to XM.com and register. You will have 3 months of free service. At the end of the 3 months remember to cancel or be charged monthly.

For me they didn't contact me until 4 months but also sent a couple 'hard-to-refuse' coupons in the mail for another few months for a big discount. If you do nothing, they program the stations to not work after about a month.

It's like $41 something with taxes USD for a three month run with (XM)Never fear, you will be contacted by (XM) to renew.. The renewal will also have your (XM) account info on it. You can sign up for a longer period but note there is very little advantage to that and no advantage if you sell or crash(Please,no).

In your sales and info package this should all have been addressed and the sales person should have run thru it for ya.

Wait til you push the phone button and your Rogue bishez at ya to set up a pairing and learn the commands.. My wife thought it was funny.

mines hasnt turned off yet

its a 1 year trial i think

they sent me the letter in the mail saying renew with the offers

etc etc

EDIT-the XM starts when the vehicle reaches the dealership

so if u got a Rogue that was there for already 6 months (odd color, no options types)

then u miss out on alot of that XM time...

If anyone has their trial period or subscription ending soon, you may want to call XM to re-new your contract. My free trial expired last week and I searched FatWallet for any deals. One person described a deal he got at $4.99 a month for 6 months. It came via email from XM and the deal expires on April 15, 2009.

I called XM and said I got an email from them about a 6 month subscription for $4.99 per month. The agent acknowledged the deal and gave it to me no problem. He also said that same deal would automatically be renewed after 6 months if I did not cancel. I think it is a good deal if you want to keep the satellite radio in you Rogue.

That is an awesome deal, I'd take that for sure. My Sirius subscription is something like 9 bucks a month. Sat radio is awesome especially if you've got it integrated with your car radio (which I don't have but wish I did). If you've got the hardware you might as well activate it and use it, you get a lot for the 5 bucks a month.

For sure! I travel a lot so it is nice to have your favourite stations programmed and available anytime/anywhere and mostly commercial free.

Sure about that? On the last day I added mine to my parents account, and I had to wait 2 weeks to go pick up my Rogue when the dealer had it. So based on your post I shoulda been charged for 2 weeks, but I wasn't.

I bought my 08 Rogue last month, new, (it had 140 miles on it) I don't know how long it sat on the lot.My XM radio trial is for 3 months. The dealership told me that it would be turned on after the sale was registered with the corporate headquarters. It took about 5 days. I have also received a letter from XM offering renewal, and telling me when the trial period ended.
