My rims are eat up with ugly from the previous owner.Bought a set of 17 inch G35 rims from a local guy (he upgraded to 18s).Got them home and was stacking them in the building when I notice one of the rims had a flat spot on the back side. Somebody must have hit a pot hole/curb or somehting.there is no road rash at the flat spot.I called the seller and he said he had purchased the car from a local Honda dealer about a year ago and the front tires were new. He said he never had any problems with his tires and didn't realize there was a flat spot.

So, is this something you would worry about? or can it be fixed? I'll be calling around some wheel places today, but wanted your opinions. Can add pics later today.

Throw a tire on it and see if it balances out. If the flat spot isn't too bad, it should balance. If it doesn't, there are places that repair wheels. Check w/ your dealer and see who they use. The one that comes to the dealer I work for does a great job. It shouldn't cost more then 100-125 to get it fixed.

Post a pic of it if you can.

Rich I am not sure if I read it right. Is it the inner side if the wheel(connected wit tires) or it is the outside of the wheel what is close to the engine when it is bolted on? Is it visuall when the tires are on? It could be from handling but I've see my friends few years back had similar flat spot from the carwash. Those tracks are awefull. If it is the other side (I think that's what it is) and it is not as big I wouldn't worry about. If it is in contact with the tires might have a slow leak later on. So you should look into fixing it. Those wheel repair guys can make it look perfect again.

Yeah, it's a bend from hitting a pothole or something similar on the road. Sometimes it isn't noticeable with the tire that was on the wheel when it happened. However, it is sometimes noticeable when you install new tires. The best way to make sure it isn't going to be a problem is to have your new tires installed by a tire shop that uses a Road Force balancer. They put a roller on the tire and measure the amount of movement in the tire/wheel combination. It's not as simple as just balancing it out. Hell, you can balance a brick. But, do you think brick will ride smooth?

It may be OK. If the inner area of the rim, where the tire bead seats is not damaged, the tire should run true.

Mobile guy is coming to straighten it on Tuesday. Will try to take pics of him doing the wheel.Should cost about $110 with online coupon. Might get him to touch up a couple small spots too.
