New Rims and Tires recommendation

I am now a new owner of an 89 240sx and want your opinion. I am thinking about upgrading the rims and tires from the 15" steel rims. My question is what size do you think I should move up to? What looks the best and won't give you too stiff of a ride? 17's? Thanks
