It is a "Nissan" though. My bro picked up a 67.5 Datsun 1600 roadster last week. It is a pretty fine ride in really good shape. We live togeather so it is effectivly my car (I'm insured on it too). We took it down to montery over the weekend to go to the Rolex classic race at Laguna Seca.enjoy

He got it for a fair price. Keep in mind the bay area is more expensive than other parts of the country. The speedo cable is bad (new one is in the mail) so we are not sure how many miles are on it really. I have found that generally people are way to focused on how many miles a car has. It dosn't really matter how many miles it has, what does matter is how well it was taken care of and what work has been done to it and what shape the parts are in. This car had a full engine rebuild about 5 years ago and runs strong, thats what matters.

Yes it is in pretty good shape. It was repainted from the original pale yellow (imo a bad color for a 'sports' car) to the red seen here. There are quite a few newish parts. It needs enough work to be interesting, but not so much that it is frustrating. A rolling restoration if you will. It is very interesting to see differences between old and new cars. As an example, the windshield washer fluid is held in a vinyl bag that hangs from 2 hooks inside the fender- a bag -?! It's weird, the fluid pump is inside the bag too. He got a service manual with it too, oh the translations are so bad, it's so confusing.510s are pretty killer, he was in the market for a 510, Triumph TR6 or TR4, Alfa Romeo GTV, or chrome bumper MGB. It takes a long time to find a classic car, you have to weed though a lot of over priced jacked-up crap. I think he got a good one though.

Notice the WW fluid bag in the upper left. Like the gromets to hang it from hooks? The tail lights need a bit of finishing work, but I really like them. They lend a character to this car that other roadsters don't have. The rims are nice too, eventually will probably be swaped out for panasports though. Top is in good shape too.

Wanna race? :D

Just kidding, you would stomp me. That is my new beater, 100 dollars for it, 100 dollars worth of paint and effort, and it won first place in my highschools car show for best chick magnet.

Yea, his parents own a gas station. He tried to tell everyone he got it from pushing drugs, but my friend is good friends with him and found out.

When I was in HS, a bunch of kids had brand new BMW's and Mercedes'. Even If I was rich, my kids would be getting a pos first.

BTW, Nice ride! How big is the engine?

The datsun has a 1600cc engine. It makes 98 gound pounding horse power if I remember correctly. It isn't really that fast, but thats not what the car is about anyway. It's made for cruzin up and down the coast on back roads.I don't understand parents buying their kids new cars. "I'm trying to raise my son as a balanced, well rounded person. I think the best way to do that is to buy him a $40,000 sports car for his 16th birthday. That will sure teach him to take pride in the things you work to get." WTF?
