I don't know if you guys have seen or heard this yet, but I was online and just seen this.......

WASHINGTON -- Nissan Motor Co. is recalling more than 200,000 vehicles to fix a sensor system that could affect the car's passenger side air bag.

Nissan says the recall includes 140,000 Nissan Altima cars from the 2007-2008 model years. It also involves 2007-2008 model years of the Infiniti EX35, G35 Sedan, G37 and the Nissan 350Z, Murano and Rogue.

A Nissan spokesman says there have been no injuries or crashes. Most of the recalled vehicles are in the United States; others are in Mexico, Canada, Puerto Rico and the Persian Gulf.

The Japanese automaker said Wednesday an issue with an electronic component could interrupt a signal in the sensor system. That could prevent the passenger air bag from deploying under certain conditions

Ahh, apparently the problem was more widespread than it seemed! I know my dad's car had this issue, but mine did not...

Mine does that only when I have something placed on the seat or someone sitting on the seat and when the weight shifts around from movement. I have never seen it randomly come on other than that reason.

Thanks for the heads up. Mine does go off and on every so often when someone is sitting in the passenger seat and not just when the weight shift. Will have to hit up a dealership to check out any recalls for my coupe.

it should with something in the seat - the seat sensor looks for objects that are over 70 lbs i believe, and will give issues when items aren't, or they move around a lot...

Any info regarding whether this will be a voluntary recall or if they are going to send out letters to the owners of the affected VINs?

I didnt see anything, but because it is a safety issue I would think they might send letters. It said 200,000 vehicles are being recalled. Nissan doesnt want a law suit when somebody gets in an accident and the passenger air bag doesnt go off.

I almost guarantee this hits the 1st out coupes, I have seen it too, at least West Hills is right in town for me I know my car is gettin' recalled, just got that feelin! I always jump on 1st year stuff, I went through the 350Z tire feathering fiasco, numerous but inconsequential Titan recalls, and I just knew there had to be someting for this...but I have never ever had a power train or related prolem ever....so at least i got that goin for me, whihc is nice

maybe it corrects the sensitivity of the sensors that detect if someone is sitting in the seat. i had a few different girls in the front seat that didnt weigh more than a buck ten, and the light came on.....if we would have gotten in an accident they would have been screwed....lol

x2.... My girlfriend always wonders if it would protect her if we got into an accident. I hope letters go out and we are not required to check for ourselves.

It's funny. When I got home today and was getting the mail my neighbor told me about it. He has an '05 G35 Sedan... which isn't even on the recall.

My girlfriend is a good size and sometimes she's just sitting in the seat, NOT MOVING... and the light will come on. Gonna get this checked next oil change.

I've had this problem since I got my coupe back in April. I've been meaning to go to the dealership to get it fixed, but I never got around to it. This happens about 70% of the time I'm driving when someone or something is in the passenger seat (whether moving or not). This happened to me both times I drove today.

Can't wait to get it fixed !!! Until then, I'll just put whoever's riding with me in the backseat HAHA

i've had this problem since i got the car! i'll be driving by myself with no one in the passenger seat and nothing on the seat and i'll see the passenger air bag light come on and then go off and it just randomly comes on and off when ever it feels like it.....

is it just me or does the driver side seat seem to be a little underpowered or something? when i drive my mom's 2007 Nissan Maxima her power seat moves no problem, then i move my seat in my A/C and it feels like it's struggling to even move (even when i'm not sitting in it..... and i don't weigh hella much)

Wow glad to see I'm not the only one. This issue came up within one month of having my AC, which i bought last Christmas. Took it to the dealer, all they did was pull the negative terminal, reset the ecu the light was gone. Well 2 weeks later the light came on again, took it in they ordered a whole new sensor, took a day to install it, haven't had an issue with air bag light since. The only issue i had a few weeks ago was my tire pressure light, once it started getting cold here in California through the sensor off. The tire pressure was fine , just add like 2 more psi and the light went away; but again im pretty sure it was because of the drastic weather change.

Had the coupe checked by a dealer for any recalls and was surprised to find that there are none out for mine. Might ask again in a month or so in case this new recall hasn't made it in yet.

Yep. Exactly.

My girlfriend is very light and depending on how she sits in the seat the light comes on or goes off. Very dangerous. I hope this recall fixes that.
