Has any one ever used Dunlop tires (D60 A2) on their Q45?I just bought two un-used rear tires, Dunlop's for my 1994 Q45.They are great on corners, but when Im at a dead stop and floor it they slip a lot (two full seconds), befor the tires grab. I checked the pressure and lowered it to 32 PSI, and they still spin on level road with warm weather. The tires have all their tread and appear to be never used. Do I need diffrent/better tires, if I expect the tires to grab & not spin, at WOT from a dead stop? Very much appriciated folks.

What is the size and width? What is the front?

As an aside: if they are old (look at the date of manufacture), the rubber may have hardened to the point of uselessness. Any tire that is more than four years old is pretty much not going to function well and should be replaced, no matter how much tread is left.

If they are five or more years old, DO NOT use them, even if "new and unused" ... the rubber may crack and fracture at the slightest opportunity!

When you buy new tires, you should try to get ones whose date of mftr is ideally 6 months or less, certainly never more than one year! I recently got a new set of tires from Tire Rack in mid July - they had been made in June of this year! As good as it gets!

Yeah, there's an oval next to the DOT and it shold be stamped with a series of numbers, IIRC the last two are the year of production.

Well, if he won't make the deal right, be very careful if you try to re-sell them. I'd list them specifically as "great tires for drifting"

Ouch! Bit too old to be safe - no matter what tread is left!

Look at the rubber inside the tread (not the outer surface of the tire). You may already see tiny short cracks in the rubber, for six year old tires.

Does not compute!

These things must be totally oxidized and harder than billiard balls.

Yes. IIRC, they usually use 2 digit week followed by 2 digit year. EDIT: Apparently, this applies to tires made after 2000. Before that, they used a 3 digit number, with only the final digit representing the year in the decade 199X.

Tires should come with an expiration date! See here: http://www.bookofjoe.com/2005/....html for an interesting read.

Rolled on these back in 95 on my 92. Was not impressed. I'd say they're OK if you get them really cheap. They weren't very sticky and wore quickly.

BTW, here are some choices from Tire Rack in a 15" size (options are getting slimmer every day). Not all these tires are excellent, but something might work out for you. The Tire Rack prices are good!

If I had to pick just one, I would try the new Michelin Pilot Exalto A/S in a 225/60-15 size. Good luck!

The Michelin Exalto in 215/65/15 95H should be satisfactory for the most demanding.

Kumho ECSTA HP4 716 215/65-15 95H

Just finished off a set of these - got around 30,000 miles in town, wife driving, no rotation. Was probably down to 3/32" (near treadwear bar).

Good tire for the price. They were CHEAP - but if you want performance, I would look elsewhere.

We just replaced with Kumho Solus KH16s. I haven't yet tried them and of course my wife cannot tell the difference! I'll have to take her car for a spin.
