New Radiator at only 1k miles?

Discussion of Infiniti's amazing (and underrated) sport-luxury crossovers, the EX35 and EX37. For 2014, the EX series will be renamed QX50, in line with Ininfiit's new naming conventions.

After owning my 2010 EX35 AWD for 1 month and about 1k miles of driving I need a NEW Radiator. There is a very tiny leak at the bottom. Anyone else have this happen? Even the dealer said it was extremely rare. Got a G37X loaner for now.

That's not good. Can you tell us the manufacturing date for your vehicle? How long does the dealer say it'll take to fix? How did you find out about the leakage?

They diagnosed the EX on Saturday afternoon via a pressure test that they said takes 1 or 2hrs and determined it was coming from the radiator. It was too late on Saturday to order it. They are ordering the radiator today Monday, they say they should have it on Tuesday. I should have it back late Tuesday or Wed. I noticed 2 or 3 drips the size of a quarter under the front end over the past week after driving it for 30min+. I figured it was the air conditioner, finally Friday after work I decided to investigate further and noticed it was actually coolant. When I looked in the front end of the engine compartment you could see some coolant residue at the bottom of the radiator, very small/minor, but un-acceptable in a 1 month old car. I figured it was the radiator hose or the clamp, didn't expect it to be the radiator, LOL!

When I get it back I can provide the mfg. date.

That is disappointing but is an easy fix.

The fuel sending unit failed on my new 2005 Corvette as I was pulling out of the dealer's lot. I had owned the car for 30 minutes and driven it 1/2 block before something broke. To replace the unit required removing the fuel tanks, which required dropping the rear end down. Good old GM.

I had the same thing happen to my 2005 GTO (Same LS2 V8 as your 05 Vette) , 2 days later one of the O2 sensors went bad, check engine light, that said, 5 yrs later that GTO is one of the most reliable cars I ever owned, including my old Infiniti, Honda Accord, etc.

That said, $hit happens is right. Hopefully by Tues or Wed it will be done.

Update.. all done. Works fine. It took them a while, they have to remove the A/C Condenser, take the refrigerant out, Removed under cover, hook lock stay assembly, and horn.

As a tech I absolutely love this thread. Shappens plain and simple. You might have got a bum radiator...you might have got a radiator damaged in shipping. Infiniti's Quality Control tends to be much higher than average for the most part. In my time here and in the dealer realm I can tell you this is pretty rare in my area. Hopefully all goes well from here on.

Dying within half a block sounds like one of the most infuriating possible places a new car could die, especially either of those two cars (personal favorites). I have run this scenario through my imagination many times and I think I might actually make the local news if that happened to me. lol, nah in reality my wife would give me that look and I would stfu.

My EX35 ran hot and when I looked under the hood the radiator overflow was empty. I put in antifreeze and the temp gauge came down some but not back to normal. I filled the radiator with antifreeze and that's when I saw fluid pouring out. My mechanic checked it out and discovered the radiator was leaking and it was replaced. I'm just shocked because my vehicle only has 54k. I did not expect this from this vehicle that should have quality parts that last longer than that. My 2002 Honda with over 200k never needed a new radiator.
