good afternoon! this is my first Infiniti. got a new Q50 yesterday. I love it.

OK, it is the V6 twin turbo. I am kind of a maintenance nut. Infiniti says first oil change at 10,000 miles. I cannot believe I would keep the first oil in there that long! turbos spin around 200,000 rpm

dumb questions:
1. when change the oil the first time.
2. what other hints do you all have to really take care of this car?

thank you!

best,

bob :)

Big congrats !~!~!

I have a '16 Q50 RS400.

The do say 10K miles on the oil change, the new synthetic oils aren't like the old days.

With my Red Sport I changed to the Motorsport exhaust (w/mufflers), stock was way too quiet, and am getting rid of the stock Dunlop run flats for Pilot Super Sports.

I love the car, and I've owned Beemers and a Jag in the past, the engine is a beast.

Did you get a Silver Sport or Red Sport, regardless, enjoy........... ;)

Infiniti has consistently told me that there is no need for break-in with their engines and they are using extended-life oil with the newer vehicles. Regardless, I'm old school and will get an oil change around the 1000-1500 mile mark.

From a maintenance perspective follow the suggested minimum (schedule 1) requirements as listed in the manuals for replacing fluids and you should be fine. The Q is my 3rd Infiniti and 7th overall Nissan and I've simply had no issues with any of them from a mechanical perspective past turning rotors.

I recently bought a 2016 3.0t and i changed the oil at 1500 for break-in came out clean and dont trust the 10k oil changes as well. so i am doing every 3k-4k with synthetic.

Ask yourself why you're using synthetic? If it is because its better, then should'nt better be able to go beyond normal mileage for oil? I would think so. Changing synthetic every 3000 miles makes zero sense other than you think you know more than actual car manufacturers.

If you're vehicle is at a location where temperatures in the winter are normally single digits, synthetic flows better in the cold. If your summer temps are in the triple digits regularly, synthetic resists the burnoff that can happen with conventional.

If your car manufacturer recommends synthetic at 10k miles, do that. If you just want to piss money away because you have it lying around, feel free to do that as well. Top end limits are set at the lowest possible value that makes sense so 3000 it is for conventional, 10k for full synthetic. I do 3000 miles changes all the time and I get 200-210K miles out of my vehicles. There are so many factors involved with getting more miles out of the car than that, but the frequency of the oil change will not make that much difference to the other components that are going to go wrong at 200k miles.

200K @3k oil changes @$30 conventional is $2010
200k @ 10k oil changes @60 synthetic is $1200
200k @ 3k oil changes @ $60 synthetic is $4020

Save your money for the premium gas that is required and listen to the vehicle mfg.
