Well, I must say I liked my M35x very much. Yet, this past winter the AWD, even with good A/S tires really wasn't very good. Can't hold a candle to Subaru or Mercedes. I also drive a lot of miles and the "growl" of my M35 wore on my nerves. I had the car for eight months and put 16,000 miles on it.
The Q45 is awesome, fast, sleek, quiet, comfy and so far is producing 2 mpg better than the M35x. The Q doesn't corner as well, yet is rides like an eagle soars. The M was a stiffer ride on anything but smooth asphalt. However, the seat bottom cushion was more comfy on the M35 than the Q45 is. i still have to figure out how to solve that. Fortunately, both seats are much better than my ole LS430.
My decision ultimately boiled down to dollars. I had 38k on the M and I knew that in four to six months the value of it would plummet as the vast number of early 2007's started rolling off their 3 year leases. I was able to trade it and get $26,500 ($2k more than I paid for it off auction last Sept. when V8 values were being decimated by high gas prices) for it while paying $17,000 for the 2004 Q45 Premium with only 46,000 miles.
All in all an even swap in quality and an improvement in ride and horsepower, and a rare new-to-me used car that has already taken its largest hit of depreciation. What's not to love about the Q?
Now, if only it wasn't black. Thank God for California car dusters!
