Hey everyone! i have been watching these forums for a bit, and thought i'd post up my pics. i'm in australia and i'm importing the car from japan, arrives in about a month. i'm sure i'll need plenty of help from you guys once it gets here. the chain guides will probably need doing as i doubt they have been done, and i bet there will be more problems but hey, its all part of the fun right?

The car is an 89 with 60,000km on the clock, not sure of all the mods, but they're pretty obvious - kit, rims, exhaust, and lowered just a little bit

theres a few more pics in my gallery if interested...

cheers,si

Nice car and welcome! I've never actually seen an 89 Q45! Can you imagine how far ahead of its time it was back then! Interesting how it has the grill like the 94+ have isn't it?

I heard the Japanese Qs had a little more muscle than the American ones. Looking forward to having you around.

Wow, how much does it cost to ship a car from Japan to Australia? Nice car.

The only real difference in JDM engine is the lack of precats to pass US warmup emissions. We feel maybe 5-8 HP more. Also the software is a little different for cruise in that the O2 sensors don't have quite as much backpressure to work with and the temperature is a little lower without the exhaust pile up infront of precats.

Years ago we installed JDM engines without precats on two company cars to see what happened.........you had to keep the idle at 2,000 rpm for 10 minutes just prior to emission test to pass.

If there was more than 0.1 second in quarter mile we couldn't find it compared to domestic. Now if you can find a JWT ecu reprogram it will do more on a non precat engine than one with precats.

Thanks everyone!

The car was built in november of 89, so its pretty much right at the start of production, number 897 i think!

And yeah that is one of the add on grills, sticks out a bit but i'm sure it'll grow on me. I'll look into getting an ECU, but who knows, it might already have an aftermarket one in there.

You know whats interesting, is that the add-on grille still looks very modern, since Volvo uses a similar design on their new sedans.

personally, i think it would look 1000 times better without the glue on grill.

that body kit is awesome though. the removal of the grille would subtle it down to perfection.

Cant import presidents, unless they are 15 years or older. And they're a little too expensive for me too, well the good ones anyway.

My car leaves sunday! The bodykit had to be taken apart to get it onto the ship and its in 3 different cars
