I'm picking up a 2002 Infiniti Q45 today with only 56,000 miles. My previous Q was a 1991 that had 225,000 (I bought it at 78k in 1999) that I traded in for a new 2009 Honda for my wife (Cash for clunkers). I know there are some issues with this car and so far I have not seen that many posts on these particular repairs. The sunroof will not open - maybe the switch? The rear sunshade does not go up - I know these tend to fail with age. I also need some service advice given the car is 15 years old with only 56k miles (near perfect condition). I did all the repairs on my 1991 except for the chain guides so I will keep searching the forum here but any help would be greatly appreciated.

:welcome: back!

I'm looking forward to pictures. If I were buying an F50, I would look in to it's service history first. Hopefully Infiniti still has it on file. The gas pedal and TCU updates are really said to wake up the car. I think the differential gear change (in 03?) also improved off the line power. Beyond that I'd do a full battery of fluid flushes and exchanges, check for suspension parts that need to be replaced due to age, and enjoy it! We now have all of the factory service manuals available at www.infinitiservicemanual.com to help diagnose those sunroof and rear shade issues. I wish I had something more specific about those issues, but you nailed it as far as having a limited base of experience on this series...

Thanks that is very helpful. After driving the car over 600 miles this weekend there are some things that are a bit disappointing: acceleration is not as strong as my 1991 Q, suspension makes some noise over bumps. What you have written sounds like some things I need to have looked at with my car. I check out the service manual which is nice to have online now.
