Not a Vh but me and my buddy started tearing into his 88 Supra today. It's getting either a 318 or a 360. He has both engines and is going to pick one, unless of course we find a junk Lexus SC430...yeah right. It's a decent looking car and has a lot of potential. Just wanted to share here since I know everyone in this forum is pretty much a swap head. I'll post some pics when we get the engine and transmission out tomorrow. We tried starting it and after 5 minutes said **** it, let's swap in a v8. He said ok. lol It's on like donkey kong! I can't wait to cruise with him. 2 V8 japs with engines sticking out of the hoods and maybe his dad with us in his 73 challenger. lol

His new motto... "Oh what a feeling to grab life by the horns"

Haha nice, love those supras, I was thrashing one around the racetrack yesterday... 92 model with the 1JZGTE. Being an 88 model, is that the 7MGTE or 1GGTE ? (3.0 or 2.0?) Cos if it's the 3.0 twinturbo model, the R154 gearbox on them is pretty damn tough!

Ah, it's just a 7mge, a/t. Really not even worth fixing but a swap will make this thing beast. I did find one vid with american muscle in it, the rest were 1uz's. He wants a uz but when you have 2 free engines sitting in the garage...

Cool, keep us up to date. I think we can all appreciate builds like this! I read as many of these as I can find for ideas and just to learn more.

And I love Supras too...

Here she is!

Get out!

Yeah, that's orange RTV on the exhaust pipe! Good thing we didn't try to drive it. The P.O. was in the navy and permatexed everything, the exhaust mani gasket, pipe, EVERYTHING!!!

And the new grille....reminds me of that movie "The Wraith" for some reason.

Car: lots of unique hot rods, and customs, with modern engines, and a good truck to pull the trailer.

Sounds like an interesting swap. What kind of induction? Trans? I am guessing carb, auto. 727? I love to swap brand to brand, and with unique engines. Nice to see more of it. A local driveshaft shop will do the hardest piece, and you just gotta make mounts, and if carb, loose the fuel pressure with a regulator, and wire it up. I though am not a fan of the Mopar family. A few good cars in their time, (I do own a 1941 dodge 4 door sedan) but overall my least favorite american car builder next to AMC, and Edsel. But that will be Sweet! 88?

I thought it was an 88 but it's an 87. The only reason it's mopar is because he has 4 engines and 3 transmissions at his dads house to choose from. This is for starters to get the swap done.

First is a stock 318, mild cam and 4 barrell Holley with the M1. He's got 3 904's so I guess it's getting a 904. The 727 is for a 4wd and needs adapters or tailshaft or something to get it to work. I'm not Mopar savvy.

This engine is out of his dads 73 Challenger. His dad is either going to build a 360 or buy a crate motor. If he buys a crate then that means we get the 360 to build up for the Supra.

We tore down the engine and cleaned everything up, re-assy starts as soon as we get a gasket set. Need a rear sump and pickup but at least we can buy that for $100 from summit and not have to fab it like for the VH! lol We talked about fabbing for about 5 minutes before we found one and then never mentioned it again. lol

Mani's we're unsure of yet, maybe some custom headers since they are so cheap in kits. It's much different than the VH. All the parts fit on one table vs. 3 different shelves in 3 different garages for the VH. I dont' like iron but he's obnoxious so it fits his personality just fine. A pistol grip shifter and a 5 inch tach will make him very happy.

What I will do with style and grace, he will do with sheer mass and brute force. The Z will probably still kick his *** tho...

Oh, and we found a dead rat under the intake and maggots in the oilpan. lmao We tried to use hydrochloric acid to get the flesh off the rat and mount his skull to the air cleaner wingnut but apparently the acid eats bone too. Totally liqueified Cammy. We were calling him Cammy because when we picked him up, half of him stuck to the cam.

Hey, I'm not saying they don't have lots of potential, he just doesn't have lots of money. He works for the state. lol Broken I6 vs. free running V8. Plus he's not a techie, he gets along with pushrods.

And besides, we all know that you can tune anything to it's limits. Next you'll have 550hp out of a dildo. lol

Read the whole thread and some of the dyno thread. That car is incredible.
