Car: Thinking my friend and I have mechanical skills

Post

Well, I finally sold my baby. I'm sad yes, very sad. Good news is I've already piced up another 240. This one is a red 96 5spd. I've got about 7-8k to spend on the engine. Last time I did an sr swap, I just went from site to site looking for the best deals. I'd like to ty to get the most outta my money this time.

So can I get some set up suggestions with 7-8k. Right now I'm thinking s14 or s15 engine. However, i am also seriously concidering rebuilding the KA and turboing it. I've spent coutless ours online trying to get some kinda package set up, but I was wondering if any of you guys had any suggestions. Like always, I want the most go for thr dollar. Anways, if you guys got any suggestions I'd really appriciate it.

go with a S13 blacktop...as the S14/S15 notchtops run into problems with larger amounts of power (like 400+ hp the VVT starts causing issues)...get a nice set of Tein HEs and ur pretty much set...the rest is just add ons really...but the S13 blacktop is deffinatly the way to go since u seem to be looking for a newer motor

dont waste the money on turboing the KA...around 10psi ur gonna wind up spending ALOT more money than u barganed for

Its not the VVT that is a drawback of S14 and S15 motors, its the low port head. The performance difference is insignificant on 2 similarly setup motors: 1 S14 and 1 S13.

What kind of goals do you have? Rediculous power? Nimble and response? All around?

Does the 7-8K include motor AND suspension work? Or just motor?

The only reason I dread the blacktop is because I ran into all sorts of wiring problems. MAjor major, like $1000 problems. That's probably cause I did the wiring myself though.

I agree. On a s14, the weight of the RB26 would be easier to control. Lot more power, Torque, and Smacktalkability.

Or you can give me the money and the car, I will give you my baby, and we can calll it even.
