With my 240sx long gone, and the desire of having a fast car still alive, I have decided I will be putting a CA into this...

This should be pretty fast. Stock Roadster weighs about 1950lbs...and the CA will be a good 80lbs lighter.

So far, it hasn't been too bad, the car was $350 and the new CA I got was $500, but now I've hit a snag as I have to get a different exhaust manifold to clear the steering shaft as it goes right through where the stock turbo would go...

to demonstrate, here is a pic of an SR20DET in a Roadsterhttp://community.webshots.com/...mhbJZNotice how he had to get a manifold made to clear the steering shaft...

So I have a few questions for you experts....Will the stock manifold mount backwards? Meaning facing up instead of down? Because if that is the case, it might be easy to bypass having to buy top mount manifold and a T3 turbo...I would just have to fabricate a dump pipe (not that hard, I think I can fabricate simple things...

or should I buy one of these?http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...&rd=1

i would either go with the SS Autochrome top mount (if it can fit) or a custom log syle manifold...

nice project,

i want to stick one of my CA18DET's in my fathers MG B convertible (looks very similar to the datsun roadster) but that will only happen either when he is dead (yikes) or moves to germany to live w/ his 6'2' german wife... lol

good luck

I have one, but it has a T3 flange and was also fitted with a gooseneck pipe for the external wastegate.

I wired up one of these, but convertible and using a KA24DE and harness out of an S14 240sx. Gas tank had to be modified, had to have a custom driveshaft made and a few other mods. But I don't think this guy ever did anything as far as putting it on the road. Well, at least it ran, so I guess I did what I got paid to do "Make it run" . I definitely wish you the best of luck with this one.

Yeah, I need to modify the gas tank and take it to get boiled to get the rust out. I got some goood cutting tools to help me in this project. Should be fun except for the brakes....I'll figure something out....

I LOVE those roadsters!

You could do a RHD conversion to fix that whole manifold problem but its gonna be hard to find everything needed.

you want a complete flange set minus the weld L's ? like 50$ shipped. thats manifold flange,t3 inlet flange, wastegate flange.

i have almost every flange you could want... over 60 different flanges.

I've currently got the SSAutocrap T28 equal length. I don't know if I can get the power that I want out of it with this setup though. I'll know soon enough though...
