ok so my car died about a week ago. it cranks and everything but only decides to start periododically. like once a week and only one day. yesterday i got up and tried to start it early morning it wouldnt start so had the car towed 300 miles back to my house and had the tow truck driver jump me because the car was dead. it started right up and ran the whole day. today i get up go and start the car and it starts fine no problem. i turn it off and then go inside to eat and come back out to leave and now it wont start again. ive read articles about the ptu and how if it goes bad this would be the cause. im just wondering if anyone else has any other suggestions or advice. if this sounds like the ptu then id like to know.
On a side note i was reading an article about swapping our ptu with a r32?i think it was and it runs amazingly, has anyone else ever done this or head of it?

I heard that the r32 ecu is programmable, and can be used for any application. :yesnod

Your main ground or grounds are either corroded to all s*** or fried. I am 98% sure its your problem.

what grounds? to what? you mean on the battery? that would cause the car to turn over but not start? like i said its getting spark and it will start every once and a while but then it wont if i turn it off and try again.

I can almost guarantee its your battery man. How old is it? Idunno how much you know about car batts but what's probably happening is the plates are old inside of it and they're corroding or deteriorating or its shorting internally. Just because this is happening doesnt mean it wont still work. I am pretty sure if you get a new batt. that will fix the problem.

I'm talking about any large grounds you have in the car, that and the main power wire for the starter. The only way to check the working resistance of that wire is to have one person holding the sets leads to either side of the wire (1 on battery terminal, 1 at starter power connection) and cranking the car, otherwise the wire will show very low resistance. Speaking of batteries have you had the battery tested? Load tested? it will show full 12-14 volts with no load but if it has a dead or dying cell it will only drop under load.

even if i tried jumping the car though? i had the jumper wire hooked up yesterday and reved the car that i was jumped from and tried to start my car and it woudnt start that way either. funniest thing just happened though. i was unplugging the main harness the one that goes to ptu and cas and the electric fan came on for 2 seconds

When you attempt to jump a battery with a bad cell it will eat the current coming off 15 tractor batteries, easily. Take the battery out of the car and go get it load tested. if the e-fan comes on you have a problem with grounds or a bad (or about to be bad) ecu

There's an access cover in the hatch. If you can't figure it out by taking stuff apart, give up on cars.
