so i used to have a problem with the transmission shifting a little jerky between 1 and 2 gear...that went away today when my shifter started getting stuck when i put it in park. i have to crank the steering wheel all the way to one side and "knock" it for the button on the shifter to go in...but at least now, when it shifts, it's nice and smooth. anyone know what the problem might be?

The steering wheel/shifter issue is odd...

Does the key come out okay when the shifter is "stuck?"Does the wheel turn to full lock even without the key in the tumbler and turned past the release position?

Until I had them fixed, I could pull the keys out of my1995and 1998 while they were running-and they would continueto run.

I got the switch fixed on my 95 for about $125

If you are parking on a hill, put the car in neutral, put on thee brake, then put it in park. Does that help?

it's always a flat surface when i park. i was thinking that it might be a problem with a brake pedal switch that unlocks the button on the shifter...but why would it unlock when i turn the wheels? the ignition switch is fine. i guess i'll leave it in N, put the e brake on and leave the key in the ignition...glad i've got keyless.
