I just bought a new 2015 Pro-4x 5 speed automatic.. It now has 277 miles. The vibration/rumble under the driver's seat at idle is driving me mad. I happens in the drive position as well as all other gears. It's the same with the AC on or off. Brought it back to the dealer. They don't feel it. I told the service manager he was out of his F-in mind. I told him he must be dead not to feel the vibration.
Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Also, I realize it's a truck, I've seen all the posts saying "it's a truck, live with it" or, "go buy a soccer Mom vehicle" I've owned many a truck in my 52 years. I've never felt a vibration/rumble even close to this one.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

Kuno,

First off, don't ever talk that way to anybody, muchless the person that you want to address issue's with your Vehicle. Desrespect Beget's Disrespect. So You'll need to go back and appologize or take it to a different Dealership. At Your Age,, You Should have known better.

I have a '13 SVV6 and the vibration that my motor has,, is when the engine is warming up,, as the RPM's Decrease, it passes through a rather narrow vibration zone, before it gets to warm engine idle speed. Once the engine get's to warm engine idle, then my V6 idle's smoothly.

If it were me,, I would want the Master Tech to check it out. He may suggest performing an Idle Relearn.

Good luck

Barney, First off I don't need you to tell me how to handle myself. You don't have a clue how many times I sat in the seat while it was constantly happening, and then immediately had him sit in the seat, and telling me "I don't feel anything". I did demand a Master Tech look at the vehicle after I was getting runaround from the service manager. Both of them stated they didn't feel anything. I guess you have never had a problem with any brand new car that you've ever purchased. You also don't know how I was treated during this entire ordeal. If this vehicle was out of warranty, they would have acknowledged this problem, and would have spent many hours at $105.00 per hour for labor. They would have replaced parts that didn't need replacement on my dime, and I'm sure I would still have the severe vibration. I guess you've never gone through this if your vehicle was out of warranty with dealers.
I was looking for advise from others who may have the same problem. Not some self righteous, politically correct member that wants to be my Father by telling me what to do.
I guess I should have posted every last detail, minute, exact words, video, and long drawn out discussion of what went on at the dealer just for you. I hope you never have have any problems with your vehicle, and bring it back to the dealer under warranty. You may be in the same boat I'm in right now.

You Sir are an A$$

you come here with a story as to how you abused some one you went to for help
then you come here and abuse a 2nd set of people who you also come to for help

do you see a pattern here?

you may as well not post here any more as you most likely wont get a reply

Here we go with the name calling. I guess you can't read as well. HOW DID I ABUSE BARNEY ????????? By saying " Not some self righteous, politically correct member that wants to be my Father by telling me what to do." I think Barney is a big boy, and can speak for himself if he wanted. Who is he to tell me how I should defend myself and what I should do. I didn't start the self righteous attitude, nor did I insult him first. I just don't let anyone walk all over me. Obviously neither one of you were with me at the dealer to see the attitude and treatment they gave me from the start. I wish both of you were in the same position that I'm in. I would like to see how both of you would handle the dealer. I guess you have never had any problems with your car as well. So, you can't fathom what I feel when everybody else except the service manager and the tech feels the vibration immediately as soon as they sit in it, and the manager and tech don't. It's real frustrating.

I do see a pattern here. You and Barney are one in the same. I hope you never have a problem with your brand new vehicle. You may just get the runaround like I did. Then we can talk about how you handled it.
Do you want to be my Father as well ?

In my new 350Z (VQ35 instead of VQ40) I had a bit of a rough idle also.
Modern engines often run so lean at idle they get sometimes get "lean misfire".

Not all of them do though.

Palmer,
Thanks for the reply. Did the dealer resolve your idle problem ? or did it resolve as the miles added up ?
Mine was fine for the first 100 miles or so. No vibrations. Then it started, I have 400 plus miles on it now, and it's getting worse. I checked all the fluids etc., all is fine. I brought it to a local (private) shop today for his evaluation.
He felt it immediately and asked me "how do you deal with this" He is sure there is something wrong. He was only able to hook it up to his scanner. The scanner showed no codes. He said it needs to go back to a Nissan dealer, they have the diagnostic software. He gave me the name of another dealer that he has dealt with in the past. I have an appointment on Monday.

Kuno: It does sound like the issue I had in my Z was distinct form yours.
My slightly rough idle never went away and about 1/3 of all 350Zs were said to have it..
It sounds like it was much milder and simply a function of the tuning choices made at the factory.

Later I put a ATI ProCharger on the car so it got retuned completely anyway..

PS: Sorry you are having a poor experience w/ your PRO4X. Really the dealer who sold the truck should fix it but if another dealer is more competent going there makes sense.

Also since he IS taking the truck the next dealer over, sold and is fixing his problems you may want to bring a box of dounuts to the next dealers service advisor when you walk in as a good-will gesture, since they dindt sell the truck and the original seelign dealer is still local to you.

Also here is my PRO4X:

Palmer,
Thanks for the insight. Yes, I was planning on bringing something in with me. It's nice that another dealer's service center is willing to see the Xterra, even though I bought it at another dealer. I had to travel pretty far to find this one. The problem is most dealers don't have any Pro-4x's this late in the game. Other dealers that may have one are not willing to swap to other dealers. There's several dealers asking 2-3 over MSRP for the Pro-4X now. As soon as Nissan released that they will no longer be produced, all the dealers that had them, sold out immediately. There were a bunch of "S" models available, but didn't want the "S"

If its as bad as you say, and they did the same thing to me (can't feel it), I probably would have been a hell of a lot meaner.

What kind of vehicle is it? You just say Pro-4X... is it a Frontier, Xterra, Titan?

Check the exhaust system. Titans and Armadas had an issue with the catalytic converters coming close to the body/heat shield in a lot of cases. If its hard up against it, it'll transfer vibrations through to the cab.

Yes, it's like a kick in the teeth when people lie right in front of your face. I don't know how they sleep at night. For them to say "I don't feel it" is absurd.
It's an Xterra. On the way to the new dealer, the motor decided to go. Had it towed into the service center. After the Tech evaluated it, he told the manager the motor was shot. So, they explained to me at this point they have to go the through the proper Nissan Corporate protocol. The manager placed a call to the regional Manager to evaluate the vehicle. (We shall see how long that takes)
The new service department was great. Night and day from that place I bought it from. They gave me a loaner car which will be paid by the dealer/ Nissan. In discussing the possibilities with the service manager, I told him that I would like to have a new motor installed since it was brand new. I don't want anyone trying to go in there and do a rebuild. The manager assured me that he was going to push for that. So now it's a sit and wait game for Nissan to decide. The manager told me that he should know in a week. I'm going to have nice conversation today with the original service manager where I purchased the vehicle. I can't wait to hear the s*** that comes out of his mouth. I hope Nissan still sends out the satisfaction questionnaires on new vehicles.

Wow thats incredible!!!
Looks like you were teeny bitzy correct that something was not right???

I have never heard of a VQ just breaking like that at any milage ( unless its been aftermarket tubored or supercharged + raced )
VQ s are very very reliable engines.

Please tell us what they say the cause was!

Kuno,

Something happened early on, right after 100 mile's.

Did you have a locking gas cap? Did somebody return your favor, by putting something in your gas tank?

Doesn't sound like you had a Nice Day.

Good Luck

Barney, "Did somebody return your favor, by putting something in your gas tank?" No one put anything in the gas tank. I was running on the original tank of gas that the dealer put in when I started having problems. If you're insinuating that someone at the first dealer did something, I don't think they would be that stupid. This vehicle is not my DD. It's garaged, so didn't happen on the second tank either. Yes, it was a great day. Now that it don't run, it confirms that there was a major problem, and, I don't have to keep dealing with inferior Service Manager's and Tech's telling me they don't feel anything. Either way I win at this point. I get a new motor or a new truck.
