Has anyone seen it yet? What did you think about it? Better than the original? Reviews I've read so far seem to give it a pretty decent score. I'm going in about an hour

Anything has to be better than trying to believe that Danny Glover can kill a Predator.

Just got back from the movie. I'd give it a 2.5/5. Not really worth watching in theaters. Half of it was good, then it just went downhill.

Kind of reminds me of Bruno...except change the "2.5" to 0 and the "half" to none.

I'll remember not to download this one.

Any movie that doesn't take at least a year to make is going to suck. Just remember this, OK?

(There are maybe 2 exceptions.)

I thought it was entertaining. It can't hold a candle to the original predator but definitely surpasses the last two AVP films by a long shot. The amount of time it takes to make a film has nothing to do with how good it is.

The comedy was great in this movie.- The lack of good story structure is what made this movie sink.- Still liked it though. -Bad director? Give it a C-

I liked the nod to Apocalypse now. Larry Fishburne humming ride of the Valkyrie. The nod to the first movie with the song during the credits was cool. Yakuza guy represented. Kurosawa or Tarentino could have shot that scene; perfect. The twist at the end with one of the two left was predictable, glad that person got their comeuppance. All in all, 2 of 4. I don't regret the investment.

:werd:

The two AVP movies were abysmal.

The DarkHorse comic books were superior.

Saw it lastnight and it was decent. Definitely could have been alot better. All new movies gotta have some cheesy a** lines now. Ending was pretty cool. Liked how they used alot of the old music.

Id give it a 3 out of 5.

P.S. I never understood the "covering your body with mud" thing, even from the first predator. Ok, predators see with thermal imaging. By covering your body with mud it wont erase your heat signature. Within a few minutes your body heat would warm the mud so it would still show up on thermal. Does anyone agree with this??

well, i know for a fact, in the first one, the humans didn't know that the predators saw by way of thermal imaging. so it would have seemed like a good idea. this new one, idk what the humans know of the predators, so i can't comment.

Mythbusters tested the mud to mask your thermal signature. It works better than just standing completely exposed, but for it to be entirely effective you would need a lot of mud. And you would constantly need to be placing new mud on yourself at all times.

I give it a 3.5 out of 5.

It was a carbon-copy of the original, amped up. Bad where the first one was bad, good where the first one was good. It was both an exercise in wrote mimicry and a study in how "x to the nth" is a double-edged sword.

Predator != AvP != Alien

Aliens and Predators are from different universes. The determination of idiot comic writers and crappy hollywood directors to deny that does not change it. Predator movies are not a part of AvP canon. Alien movies are not a part of AvP canon. AvP sits in the corner, alone, with the dunce cap, liked by no one.

And all of that is why I have maintained hope that I may actually enjoy Predators. Because it isn't effing AvP. It's Predator 3.

No. No, it isn't.

There have been 3 Superman movies, 2 Spider Man movies, one Hulk movie, 2 Alien movies and now 2 Predator movies.

That is final. :squint:

Alien 3 was great. 4 we can ignore. But 3 definitely exists.

I see we are at loggerheads. So be it.

We can debate the finer points of sequality, but we should do so in the Learned'd away from innocent bystanders. :)

I'm fully aware of this, I was just comparing it with the last 2 movies with predators in them. I remember back when Alien 3 came out, it was the first laserdisk I had ever bought. David Fincher and Charles S. Dutton FTMFW! I was luck enough to be invited to a special discussion at the Egyptian Theatre where they had most of the visual effects artists from the Alien, Aliens and Alien 3. They de-constructed a lot of the FX and showed how they used miniatures and rear projection. On top of that they had a lot of the aliens from the original films on display. Needless to say it was fooking amazing!
