Folks,

This is my first post here. I am considering replacing my 2000 Subaru Outback 4cyl with a 2012/13 Rogue AWD.
Test drove a few and apart from getting used to the CVT, I really like the car. This will be coming back to Nissan after 4 years (when my 1996 Maxima finally died).

Any words of advice? Anything in particular I need to check? Does anyone have experience with comparing the Nissan AWD system to the older Subaru one? From what I see - using winter tires should make the car pretty unstoppable in the winter...

Also did the SL or SV trims come standard with remote engine start?

I was in same boat when i bought my 2014 rogue. I test drove 2014 crv, rav4 and mazda cx5. Rogue has nicest interior among all of them. I personally think rogue exterior looks better than others in that segment. Its funny how crv and rav4 copied rogue's day time running light in their 2016 models. It feels roomier than others too. Most important factor in buying rogue was stadium style sitting in back. I have a child and rear seat room is abundant. Rear seats slide and recline so it adds more leg room. Rear passengers sit higher than driver so they can see the road clearly(in other cars, all rear passengers can see is front seats and dash).
Nissan rogue has intelligent all wheel drive. when accelerating from stop, it is always awd(90% front wheel, `10% rear but it changes according to road condition and traction. In snow or slippery condition it sends even more power to rear wheels). On heavy acceleration at any speed it sends power to all wheels. If it detects that one of the wheel is losing traction it distributes power to wheel with good traction. On irregular surfaces(such as bumps on highway), it adjust power distribution too. Rogue also has engine braking and trace control which really helps in tight turns and high speed cornering.
I actually started liking cvt now. Unless you are buying a more powerful suv (v6 or v8), automatic transmission doesnt make sense. For 4 cylinder compact car cvt works the best. CVT has good low rpm torque so it drives very smoothly. RPM remains below 2000 unless you want to pass or merge in to traffic. Rogue doesnt come with remote starts atleast 2014 and 2015 ones. I am not sure about 2017 you have to check with dealer
