Ok, here goes, last June I experienced a problem with my Q that I am just getting around to. I haven't run it since. At that time, Small amounts of gas would leak from the throttle body. The problem got worse until the car backfired through the throttle body and started the air cleaner on fire. Stupid me, I put it out instead of taking the insurance money, but live and learn. Anyway, after that issue, large quantities of gas flowed from the throttle body. I was told that most likely it was due to O-ring problems with the injectors. Like I said, today was the first day I actually was to sart working on the plenum removal. I took off the AAC only to find that the air gallery hose was full of fuel. This started me wondering about the problem. So, I put everything back together again, and turned on the ignition switch without cranking the engine. Gas poured out of the throttle body again. Now, my question is, if it were the fault of the injectors would gas flow like this from the fuel rail to the thottle body without cranking the engine. Is it possible the culprit is the fuel pressure damper or regulator? Any insight would be appreciated. Thanks, Harold

The FPR vacuum hose connects to the plenum, the fuel damper air hose connects to large air hose just after MAF.

Never heard or seen such a fault before just remove vac hose from FPR and see if gas squirts out with pump on no need to crank.

Alright, finally got back to work on the Q. I siphoned the gas from the air gallery, disconnected the vacuum hoses from what I thought were the fuel pressure regulator and from the fuel damper, turned the key to on.... fuel leaks from the vacuum line on what I think is the FPR. It's a small UFO shaped valve right below the #8 injector. Am I right about my diagnosis? The vacuum hose leads into the air gallery.

I did a search for the parts on the internet to see if I could discern which part was indeed the leaking culprit. It seems to be the fuel pressure damper. Thanks, Harold

Either one would be a FIRST...............some of that great AZ gasoline eats thru metal.

Yeah, you mentioned before that you'd never heard of the problem before. I'm a little relieved that I didn't have to do a plenum job. The removal of the FPD is a bit of a pain in the *** though.

remember there is a regulator and damper., they all look similar...

Heres a mildly helpful diagram... I wanted to differentiate which is the damper and the regulator, since they look pretty much identical...

The regulator part number is- 22670-60U00-

The damper part number is- 22675-60U01-

Thanks, yup, it is definately the damper as pictured in the diagram. Where is the second damper located? It is definately not placed for easy removal. It's become apparent that there is no sense in tryng to save any of the hoses.

Pull the plenum and remove the rail to the work bench so you can replace all fuel hoses easily.

If it ate the damper I would consider replacing the regulator and the two hoses that provide fuel on/off the engine and the section below the fuel filter.

I definately bow to your more vast expertise. Forgive me if I am asking something that is kind of stupid but is it possible that there is a rubber actuator inside the dampers and the regulators that may be that cause of the leak through the vacuum ends? After I get the new damper I will "peel" apart the old one for an autopsy, of sorts.
