Hey Gang,

I've been trying to get a new design for http://www.240sxconvertible.com for quite a while.. But, with NICO growing by leaps and bounds, our web designers have been spread pretty thin, and they have more important projects for the good of NICO than redesigning our portal page.

So... I've enlisted the talents of S13FX (NICO's KA-T Moderator) to help us move forward with this project.

So.. once again.. here's the first draft of the new portal. http://www.oakton.edu/user/~mnowosielski/seth/

What I would like is for everyone to take a look at it and let us know what you think. Do you see anything we can improve on? Layout, Color Scheme, etc???

As for content... at the moment, we just have the basics, and we will be adding to it. -We'll be adding a 'vert gallery - a three part photo gallery consisting of "wild", "mild", and "member's rides". -We'll be bringing forward the "recent threads" engine from the old portal. -Also, we'll have some of the expected (hopefully non-invasive) advertising that you see at the bottom of the existing portal. -We'll be updating and making public the 'vert registry in a new interactive, searchable database format.

Do you guys have any other suggestions for content on the new portal?

definitely diggin it, but I think it lacks the part on the right where new posts have been made...I really like that, and I'd hate to see it go.

Come on 'vert people... this project is for you.. what do you think of it? Let's see some input.

Do you guys like the new idea better? Or the old one better? Any ideas for layout or color scheme changes?Any ideas for extra content?

I'm thinking we could add another box on the right side to mirror the one on the left side.. then put the recent threads and perhaps a couple notable how-to links on that side.

it looks really cool! but i like the color scheme of the current portal ALOT! if you could somehow make the new portal the old color scheme that would be awesome

I like the look and layout, but I think the whole black and blue theme is a bit on the dark side. With a black car as the focal point, it just doesn't "pop". I feel like we are more like the red headed step child of the 240 bunch.... let's stand out like we should... JMHO..

I second this idea and perhaps:

- change font style on page as well as "240sxconvertible.com"- Actually have the welcome phrase centered on the page- this part:"You've reached the largest and most comprehensive resource for 240sx convertible owners on the 'net! The web's original online resource for 240sx owners brings you everything you need, including the most active 240sx classifieds around. Browse our informative online discussions, engine forums, Online Mechanic section, and shop from over 40 advertisers offering exclusive discounts to members!" should be just 1 clean paragraph- instead of having the city background on the top of the page how about if it randomly selected a picture in the gallery every time the page is viewed?- what if we started a tradition with the homepage convertible picture where we vote for say the convertible of the year and for that year have that one car featured until next years winner??
