Clipsed... please be careful with your tone. We value you very much here, you are a wealth of knowledge. But you also sometimes have an attitude that can really put people off (a trait that we share, that I would prefer were toned down or put in check).

We on the mod staff believe that you can be a great asset to this community, but we are concerned that your mannerisms will either insult forum members and run them off, or that you may continue to otherwise "step in it".

Could you please back off the sarcasm and arrogance a little bit, please?

On another topic, Clipsed... we're getting ready to input another round of custom titles, and your write-up on fog lamps earns you one. Please email me with what you would like your title to read and I will make sure it happens.

Looks nice bro hope you did it yourself... The D.S.O. system will give your system a better sound since the door speakers sit so low CDX-GT710 is a nice starter head unit lots of good features the MEX-BT5000 is what you should look into when the price dops if you like Bluetooth connectivity..

Don't trip on what clipsed said since he never said what head unit he had, seems his is all about dB's anyways, a good setup always starts with the head unit not in the trunk..

I'm thinking of a Double Din 6.5" or 7 "DVD either Pioneer or Eclipse unit, the mount should come out like the one Hassel has installed in his ride http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2508756

Regardless of what Clipsed may have failed to mention, he does have a point about Sony. Not about features or what have you, but reliability. Sony optical equipment in particular, across their whole line from home entertainment to computers, has an abnormally high failure rate. In some cases (such as computer electronics) this rate is double the industry standard. This I can tell you from personal experience, having worked at a Sony authorized retailer for 11 years.

Sorry about that E V, CodeRed and I are cool, we talk off of the forum also, and I was giving him advice on this matter and told him to stay away from Sony as Sony is one of the worst name brand companies that make car stereo equipment itself, I respect Sony in every other aspect, but as big of a company as they are, and as much money as they make, their car audio could be much improved.

But I have to laugh at you Nismo, as you post about how I start in the trunk! HAHA no, I was waiting on my dash kit to be shipped to my distributor so that I could install my ECLIPSE HU, yes something that you want, but don't have! The people that I talk to are into competition audio, and we stay away from small time companies like Pioneer. Although I may have other things in my car right now, that is because money has not permitted me to upgrade those things quite yet, but soon enough the speakers will be the first thing to get changed to Eclpise 6 1/2's. Don't go trying to clown on me when you have no clue what I was talking to CodeRed about. I know most people can not afford Elcipse, Focal, Rainbow, Mcintosh, and a lot of these other HIGH END companies, but do not tell me what I know and don't know, you don't know who I am and what I know.

Any who E V I appologize if I had offended anyone, which I doubt I did judging by Nismo V's reaction. I will shoot you that e-mail E V and thx!!!

AND FOR THE RECORD, here are the pics of my Eclipse CD 8445 H/U almost $400!!! And has SQ features that almost all other HU's do not have! like 8 volt preamp outputs! my gains on my amps are so low because of that! the ability to put a microphone in my car to adjust the sound on my computer according to what the mic heard! And a lot of other unmentioned things, you should look up the features of my HU, you will be amazed!!

Ever Victorious you need to read a little closer next time I said a good "starter" head unit since he's not doing major stereo work... also I use to install for a Custom shop so I know a little about the stuff as well..

you do not need to do major stereo work to have a really nice, crisp, clean sounding system. But that Sony will not give that, that is for sure. Obviously not enough though.

Eclipse is "high end" these days? Oh noes.

Someone must have been born in the 90's!

LOL hitman, yea Eclipse has customizable features that you do not get in other HU's, an 8 volt pre-amp output, most only have 5, pioneer has a crappy 2.2! and I was not born in the 90's, I am probably one of the youngest on this board.

I can think of other options at the same price point that I would rather have for a "starter" unit. Or even a permanent HU.

Then again, I don't need to blow my brains out with decibels. I'm getting soft in my old age, I found the SL's stock HU to be more than enough, and the pathetic 80W HU in my Subaru to be just enough.

And Greg... two way street, buddy. You can't tell me to have Clipsed knock it off and then go poking him yourself in the same thread.

Weel just to sum it all up. All of you arguing about it dont understand im not looking for the 'top of the line' i wanted a simple display and somthing that looked and sounded well, thats all. I dont plan on doing much else to the sound besides i'm going to be installing a bazooka next. Personally anyone who says sony is a bad company im sure you have had used them before, but if anything happens to mine (in 3 years) its under warrenty so i can get a brand new one for free. If anyone is thinking about adding a HU to your Versa, i think sony isnt bad at all I love mine!

Sony has had some problems with their CD's in the past. I know numerous people who have never had a single problem with them tho. It all depends on what you are looking for, cost, etc. I used to love Kenwood HU's until it became aparent they had board issues with their RCA outputs.

As far as Eclipse, I looked at their latest tuners a while back and chose Pioneer instead (to replace my Eclipse ECD-419). The new-style Eclipse headunits remind me of the flea market radios of the early 80's. Dang things look like a carnival exploded on their displays. Too busy with too many colors going on. I did not care if they had 8v outs or washed my car for me, ugly is ugly.

Opinions do vary

CodeRed: Are you expecting aliens or helicopters to be using radar/lidar on you? Radar detectors go FLAT. It also works better higher on the windshield.
