Where I live, yes. On my last car I had pretty much the same tint (28% on sides, 19% on rear window) and was ticketed for it twice. Each ticket was around $144. Both tickets were within 12 months of eachother.CrimsonQ wrote:Looks real nice bro.
Do cops really mess with peoples windows? Ive had 5% (some called it limo tint?) on all of my cars and never had a bit of trouble.
I didn't know if I'd like it on the first car I bought that had them (slightly used... former owner had the tint installed). Within days I was hooked! Now I feel naked without tint - like I'm driving in a fishbowl...cullenj76 wrote:Looks great. I'm debating on tinting my windows, but I don't know how I'll like it
I agree.... driving my Q pre-tint vs. post-tint. I much prefer the post-tint.Q451990 wrote:I didn't know if I'd like it on the first car I bought that had them (slightly used... former owner had the tint installed). Within days I was hooked! I even did DIY tint on my beater truck because I had to have the tint but didn't want to pay for it... By the way, paying for it is well worth it... tint is a beiotch to install yourself!

Not only that, but SUVs have terrible visibility to begin with. I don't see the logic behind that part of the law.Jeff Williams wrote:Trucks and SUVs can go darker on the rear (Which is totaly assanine, since that is where the gunmen hide).
Ditto for Michigan. Thats what I did with mine. Limo on back doors and rear window... light tint on front windows.Falkdesigns wrote:In Cali, you can tint the rear doors and windows pretty much as dark as you want, but you're not supposed to tint the front doors at all. What's worked for me the past 7 years is tint the rears pretty dark, and tint the front doors lighter, so it's kinda hard to tell if the front doors are tinted or not.
Looks great BlueC.
Then get a 1999+ FY33 or a F50 with Premium and get the rear side curtains also. Both are nice, even with the Hüper Optik Stark 30.Jeff Williams wrote: I would like to have a rear shade in the Q, like the one in the I30.
Are you talking about the Dot Matrix? Because they couldn't fix that. It's hard to tell in the pictures, but the very tops portion of the glass is a tad lighter because it wouldn't settle 100% over the dot matrix. Blends in well, so I don't mind.xmateo wrote:Nice tint job. how did they overcome the plastic beading on the top of the rear window? My tint shop said they couldn't make mine stick.
Yes, the dot matrix. So the dot matrix is not tinted? Mine isn't either. He tried, but the tint just wouldn't stick. I don't know that I like the look much from the outside, but looking out the window is fine.BlueC wrote:Are you talking about the Dot Matrix? Because they couldn't fix that.
