I'm not a huge fan of dash kits to dress up the interior of the car, I'm more of a, paint the interior to 2 tone to give it some life. So as I had posted before, I went and got some color match paint to match the Steering Wheel and Door Trims. I also painted the dash kit for my Kenwood DNX 8120 Navi Unit, But I haven't installed it yet so no pics of it yet.

Here's Pics of what I did. I wanna appoligize before hand about the first pic of the dash bezel, The sun was interfering with the pic shot so it doesn't look that clear and has a halo like image.

Gear Shifter Pod

Passenger Side Vents

Drivers Side AC/Heat Vent

Driver Side Defogger/Defroster Vent

I have a couple cans of paint left, If anyone wants to buy them from me to do the same mods, let me know.

-Dom

I don't understand what you're describing.

After you show us some of those pics... I'll probably take some of those paint cans off your hands.

BlackNWhite--I color matched the trims of the heat/ac vents on the dash and the round vents for the defroster/defogger on the dash, the gear shifter pod, and the black trim where the speedometer to the colored trim on the steering wheel(where the radio and cruise control buttons are)

LegendRacer and Colton92--I will take better pics tomorrow and the job as one. I didn't have much time to take better pics of them, I was at work, stepped out for a minute and took them.

did you take them off of the dash, steering wheel, etc. when you painted them? Does the paint color match your body paint?

The steering wheel has that color trim already, so does the door(the part you grab to close the door when sitting in the car). It's the titanium looking color peices. I had the paint color matched to those trim peices, took them off the dash, sanded them down, primered them and them painted them.

^Good question. Also, how do you apply the paint? With a brush? You also primer it? I've very interested in doing this mod.

I pulled vents off the dash, and disassembeled them (which is not hard at all to do), used a 60 grit scuff pad to sand them down, used primer filler(spray can) to prep it, went over the primer with a little bit of oil remover in-case there was any oil smudges from my fingers on there, then the paint I had made were in aresole cans, i sprayed them, let them dry, and put them back together.

*NOTE*

When the primer dries up and it looks rough, use a 100 grit scuff pad and sand down the primer untill it's all nice and smooth. Reapply primer on there, let it dry then, spray it with the final paint.

As to the paint, I posted a thread about the interior paint and wanted to see if anyone wanted a can of it. It's in an aresol can. One can was more than enough for all the peices that I painted, plus there is a lil bit left in it.

My g/f's Honda Civic has this except they're separate pieces that glue on (excluding the odometer portion). She had them installed from the dealer. Maybe it's because I'm so tired of seeing them but this mod doesn't seem all that great to me. It's just, meh.

NightSky--I'm not trying to go all out with this car. My 03 Alti was a different story. That car was built for show, I did everything from air suspension to shaving the door handles with poppers, to a full body kit, custom paint job on the exterior to matching the interior to the exterior paint, to ripping out my back seat and building a custom box with 2 15" Juggernaut Subs and More.

With my A/C, I just wanted to add a little bit more color to the interior. I'm not trying to make this car a show car like my last one, those days are in the past for me right now. I'm not in my teenage/early 20's anymore. I'm thinking about my future, which costs money, so I won't be dumping too much in this car.

I don't know why Nissan stopped with the colored trim on the door and steering wheel? I didn't do this mod to wow everyone and be like "Holy S**t, That's Bad A**". No, I did this because I like to see a little more of the 2 tone in the car.

I'm not trying to sound like a jerk or anything and I hope you don't take offence to this.

None taken. I think it is just because I am tired of seeing it that makes me not like it. I'm all for enhancements and not over-the-top mods (even though I like those too). I'm actually planning to go the enhancement route myself like you. I really like your dash mod though. Very simple, yet, it improves the look a lot.

i just got my fiberglass eyelids today and allready primered and painted them this will probabely be my next thing to do

1) Drop the Steering Column-Put your hands between the bottom of the neck of the steering wheel and the steering column and pull down. This should drop easily, it's a matter of a couple clips being undone.

-Next is the difficult part to describe. The black trim around the dash cluster, where the push start button is, needs to come off. Using 2 hands, put your fingers in between the bottom of the black trim and the plastic glass where the gauges are (where the 2 come together at the bottom). Now with a little force, pull out towards you and it should come loose....again a matter of a couple clips.

do you have a picture of where these clips are? i dont see them but than again my hands can barely fit in there

The clips are on the back side of that trim, you will not see it or feel them with your fingers. Your fingers do not have to go all the way in between, as long as your finger tips are in between and you can get a good grip, Just pull towards you.....both the left and right side at the same time.

Hey domdada, do you have a pic that shows the whole interior of the car? If I can just see that, I'll take one of your cans off your hands.

The color matches wonderfully, like i said.....I took the trim panal off the door and took it to an automotive paint supplier, they have a machine that scans the paint and does a color match. I do take pay pal....send it to [email protected].
