Had a great time this weekend. Was nice to get to the track and have some beautiful weather. Last weekend I drove all the way up in hopes of racing but got rained out - sucked.

First pass of the day, 14psi in the tires, 5700 RPM 2-step

I still *REALLY* want to build a motor for this thing over the winter but I'm really hesitant to go tearing this thing apart when its working so well

Nice passes buddy! Personally, I'd keep running that motor until you can get something else built. It is fast and very consistent and sounds like it has been reliable for you. Are you thinking RB30?

I would love to go with an 10:1/RB30 however.....I have clearance issues to begin with. I can't drop the motor any further down and I have already spaced the subframe away from the chassis enough that I am comfortable with. The real issue is the compressor housing hitting the hood. I could try and find a way to modify the exhaust manifold to drop everything back down but from what I understand the RB30 is almost an inch taller.

Sounds like you'll need to clearance the hood (i.e. sawz-all) and graft a turbo intake into it :gapteeth:

Great runs! For the future RB30 setup... Dry sump and drop the engine lower :spitout: should save some room and add performance at the same time.

Awesome its on the stock motor still!

What size tires you running?

Put some Richmond 4.11 gears in that thing and go 9's
I know where a set is at

I have had the richmond's in the car for about 7-8 years now (I had one of the first sets.) With the stock gearing I'd barely be getting into 4th. These are 26x10.5 and the gearing/tire size combo is perfect for where I'm crossing the traps.

The issue I have right now is the output shafts. If I keep the ET streets at 14psi, I can run them all day long. As a matter of fact I have gone 2 years now without a failure. However, If I dip below that things get sketchy. Here's what happens at 12psi on the tires

I have about 4 of those and they arent cheap to replace.

The other thing I noticed is that I was running a bit higher boost. Not sure if the loading was a little different because of the sticky tires but I was making 2-3 more PSI. My timing map is set to fall off over my target boost of 30psi. So after looking at the logs I discovered I was running 32-33 psi and only like 11 degrees of timing. There is a lot more left in this setup! - At least enough to get me to a 9

Nice.. I'd like to get the r230 in my s14.. I've already broke the R200 pinion.. I have a brand new set of richmond gears in my garage.. ready for when it breaks again.

You ever try and cryo or heat treat those output shafts?

So your running drag radials? 16's

ET Streets on Rear Z32 TT wheels

Never had a set treated. If I can find an extra set I may have Drive Shaft Shop make a custom set out of 300M Billet

How much do you think they will charge for that? I was on their site and a set of "900 HP" shafts were $1,700.

I was quoted a few years ago about 550 per side, but who knows what material cost has gone up to the last few years

Id be interested in a set of those.. maybe we could get in on a group buy or something...

You have any handling issues with the bias ET streets in the rear and radials in the front??
I just bought a set of tires and the guy at M&H was pretty insistant on not mixing them.

Did you install those Richmond gears yourself? Did you have to reshim the pinion diff etc?

You ever try preloading? Your clutch drops look violent.. i wonder if it would help with the output shafts breaking..

Yea, slip that clutch a tad to get the drivetrain parts pressure on them before you dump the clutch
