Coilovers arent exactly beneficial for normal driving.

I dont get why people think every 240 needs Coilovers, even if its a daily driver.

Worse still people say PBM........PBM, have you every daily'd with PBM, youll hate driving anywhere because they are so stiff. PBMs are probably the worst coilover a daily driver can have. the worst.

Clearly you are going for a nice looking and feeling daily driver, so instead of spending tons on a performance part you will never fully utilize get some lowering springs, or if you have the cash Ksport Airtechs.

The only Coilover kit i think is even relatively decent for a "will never see the track car" is the JIC FLT-TAR VIP kit, which im not even sure come for S13s. ive only felt them in a 2000 maxima, and they were amazing.

Dont listen to all the sheep who tell you to get PBM or any other super stiff perfect for the track Coilover kit, its unnecessary.

On Topic.1. Lower it. By any means.2. Decent Wheels. 15-18" in size3. Pig lip, side skirts, rear valences and a minor roof spoiler4. Clean the KA. Dont get an SR.
Hmmmm... I'm glad that you mentioned to 'not' go with coilovers, Nali. I'm a College Student with a budget, so I'd like to keep all costs to a minimum. My S13 is my daily driver, but I'd definitely want to lower the car without sacrificing too much comfort. I've looked into Eibach springs, but I've heard mixed reviews about. One especially being that their too stiff.

What brand springs has a slightly stiffer feel than the OEMs, but for a decent price?

Also, you mentioned to 'not' go with SR... Out of curiosity, why would you say that?

I had H&R springs on my 90 coupe, and have Tein lowering springs on my 90 hatch. The H&R's with KYB G2 struts/shocks had a great feel to them. Still had a very nice ride to them since it was my daily driver all through college. The Tein's are coupled with AGX and 18" rims, so it's hard to tell how good they are for a daily......that car is so damn stiff. Just my .02 cents.....don't know how others feel about H&R....

You might think this is crazy or whatever but i dont think 240s were made with comfort in mind. They dont even have cup holders! lol. Coilovers arent that bad. I used to drive for work 750 something miles a week on colovers in oklahoma. You want comfort buy a buick or some s***.

Most spring cost sub 200 bucks so price is negligible. And on the comfort level they will be stiffer than stock for sure but not like being Corn on the cob raped everytime you drive around.

Cuz the KA is fine for a daily driver. But if you really must have a swap'd turbo'd motor, dont spend too much and go with a CA18DET. 800 bucks on ebay. And can be found for less in the right places. A good rebuild and you have a very reliable little engine perfect for Daily.

<---- This man is biased.

Plus having a CA18DET, also gives you the WTF look everytime you pop the hood. Cuz every 240sx has a KA , SR or the more rare RB. So when people see this little thing, they are like "WTF".

Another note, NICO has a very helpful CA18DET community. Need any help with the engine and we are ready to assist in anyway.

He's probably right about the PBM's. It takes someone who enjoys sacrificing some things on the daily so his/her track time can be more fun. If you don't drive that much it doesn't matter.

If you like to slam your car then pbm is the first stop in your quest for low, otherwise I'd suggest an eibach sportlines setup. I had them on the last car and they are nice on your tush, but still aggressive. They are better served with stiff anti roll bars.If you only knew.

I like the pig. It has its ways. Dunno why you wanted paint. Ppl doggin the pig gtfo

Now that you have your car looking clean, go for the next big upgrades: brakes, coilovers, turbo. The obvious solution to bigger and better brakes is the z32 route. Those who are advising against coilovers have never driven in Anaheim like you and I have. Our roads are so easy to live with, especially if you live near disneyland like I do. However, megans are too bouncy and from what I've heard, so are the PBMs. My older brother has Stance on his s13 and they are much better then mine.

Lastly, if you're going to go for a swap go for the s13 SR. The swapping process will go by very easily and aftermarket support is incredible! If you're worried about smog, I can refer you to some people I know. I've had my heavily modified SR for some time now and never ran into issues with law enforcement. Good luck with your project!

I'm against coilovers on street-only cars because it's a major waste of money. Springs are just fine to get a lowered look.

OP, the car looks great! Springs and nice wheels oughta do the trick for your next 1-2 grand spent.

If it's a street-only car, most performance upgrades are pointless. Exhaust, intake, all that bologna...

Yeah idk i daily on super drifts, its annoying yes but you get used to it, and handling is very well worth it. On another note my friend has cut megan springs on kyb AGXs and they are super stiff as well given he can adjust dampening but still haha i was amazed.

Another friend of mine has Cusco Zero 2rs and they KICK MAJORITIZING BOOTY, the car handles great and they are comfortable! If you want to track your car and can get used to a rough ride (IE: Crosswalk paint becoming speed bumps) then go for PBM or something with 10/8 or 12/10 spring rate i like slowing down for crosswalks it just makes no sense! your car looks clean with new paint, Just try not to worry about it getting messed up!

How many times a month does your car hit the track or drive in such a manner that the stock suspension becomes a major bottleneck to its performance.? Springs are perfect for a daily driver. Upgrading to 1000 dollar coilovers when your car will never fully utilize them is the same as having a 500HP SR that sees peak HP once a year if ever. Its poser status.

Swap an SR? why the hell would he do that, when he is using this car as a daily. Just bolt on some parts onto the KA and have a decent Daily Driver. If you must swap the CA is better bang for buck for a daily. Unless you find a really sweet deal their is no reason to SR over CA.

OP, you need to listen to the voice of reason here

Coilovers are for the track, there is absolutely no reason to get Coils unless you are AutoX'n, Drift'n or Slamming for show purposes. So just scratch that off the list of mods.

A swap'd motor is unnecessary if the KA is running perfectly, which i believe it is. Its a very good motor that you can have enough fun with, if you ever feel the need for a turbo then just go KA-T.

What you should focus on, IMO is having a really good looking 240SX.Ive already stated what i think you should do so i wont do so again.

P.S whenever you are about to buy something, think about how necessary the part is for what you are trying to achieve.

You can't have a really good looking 240sx with a spring and strut combo IMO. Although most coilovers are too harsh for street-only use, I felt that the drop and camber adjustability were enough reason to buy coilovers. My car wasn't built to be comfortable.

OP, If all you want is a good looking car, then don't do brakes or the CA18 swap. Go for aero. I suggest chuki front with xenon lip, chuki side skirts, and a rear valance of your choice. My 0.02

get the black line that goes around the car. It looks naked. Put the nose inserts back in or cut them out for "better cooling".

I lol'd at this comment.

You are telling me an 240sx can not look good without coilovers. hahaha, i cant help but lol, seriously

Here is danielsans' car and its a fine example of what springs can do for an S13.

^that is a very good looking car. ESP if you are daily driving it.

I still stand by what I said Nali. But no offense to the red coupe on sportmaxes. It does look clean, just not low enough, or maybe it's because of the small wheels. Regardless, there's too much wheel gap IMO.

I agree with the black line around the car deal, but suggest a chuki front bumper.

Wow, I'm surprised I've gotten this much feedback @_@;;; But it seems like the thread has gone a little controversial... So let me share with you guys with what I've thought of. And, btw, I "WILL" accept any criticism/flaming =D

Megan springs 17" MB Seven X Wheels (http://www.discounttire.com/dt...AOINT)Kumho Tires to go w/ 17" MB More to come when I feel like spending money XD

Again, I will accept any criticism/flaming if you guys think this is the most ridiculous set-up you've ever seen; HOWEVER, keep in mind that my S13 is a daily driver and I'm a college student who really doesn't want to spend too much money. Also, this is just a rough draft of my ideas, so the upgrades listed above don't necessarily mean that I'm dead set on them. I may go for them as they are, I may not go for any of them =D

Thanks for all the feedback, and hope to see more comin' =D
