yea I did, it not all that hard if you can grasp what ur doing. If ur paint is s*** id take it down to 120 on a orbital sander. I only have a few spots to weld and mud such as the hatch wiper hole, antenna, and a spot on the fenders. I had a couple ding on the fenders but didnt want to risk cracking mud so said f*** it. I 120 to bare metal to lay bondo then hit it with filler prime to get the scratches out. The I blocked down the whole car with 320 wet sand paper which will take you anywhere from 10-20 hours if you do it right. Dont sand to much as to go thru to bare metal but it you do primer it and sand it down. You dont need to primer the whole car, only bare metal. After thats done gently go over the car with 400 scotch brite until everything is smooth. You can take it down to 600 if you want but you can paint over 400. After that tac rag the whole car to get everything off and make sure to rub the s*** with ur hand to make sure the car is where u want it. Make sure before you go rubbing the car you clean ur hands with laquer thinner so u wont leave grease on the car that will bubble your paint. For the actual painting, I paid an uncle 50 bucks to shoot it, you will most likely have to pay a experienced painted several hundred dollars to do this. If you want to do it yourself more power to you. I have layed paint in the past but didnt wanna lay this because I didnt have enough experience shooting paint with that much flake in it. Also because we shot with thinner the flake liked to separate and streak when laid so yeah.
so heres the tallysanding block $53 packs of 320 $5from oreileys $15laquer thinner $15 for a gallon2 quarts of paint $1302 quarts of clearwith activator $45uncle to paint $50i already had mud and scotch brite from awhile agoTOTAL $265
the same thing from a shop is going to cost you $1000-16000
