damn dude that's *really* nice. I wanna do my own paint too this winter, maybe you could detail a little more what you did? What grit did you use to sand it down, what process? Did you primer and all that also, or did you just use the paint underneath? Lemmie know man, it looks like you did a really nice job taping- Im impressed! hahah cant wait to see those clear coat pics!

PS- whats the name of that color?

EDIT: lol I just saw your sig-- haha guess that answers my primer question! loll well even still what was your prep process?

The Imprezza on page 4 is my buddy Mikes car. He blew the motor shortley after he had a turbo installed by http://www.passenmotorsports.com because they didnt hook his oil lines up correctly and one of them came loose and kaboom. Atleast that is what he told me.

About my car, it was already primered black. I used 320 grit, I SRONGLY reccommend not using anything finer because the paint actually has to stick :) I wet sanded it down completely. You can do the same to a car that has regular color on it, just sand it down. Let me know how it turns out..

By the way, I am gonna clear coat it right now. It's just teasing me to get done. :)

sweet man! more questions:

what kinda spray gun did you use? HVLP?

Did you do any of the door jambs or under the hood or trunk or anything like that? If you did, got any pics of how it was taped up?

How many cars have you painted before - or is this your first try? Howd the paint dry- any orange peel, fish eyes, etc? Is that a metallic blue color? If it is how hard was it to keep the flakes even?

Sorry for all the questions man, Im just excited to see someone is doing exactly what I want to do in a couple months.

ok i decided to clear coat my car today- just got done alil while ago. here are pictures

http://www.cardomain.com/membe...age=9

About the paint gun I am not sure who makes it. It is my dads and I know that he paid around $450 for it ;)

As Dan said I did under the hood, some of the bay, the trunk bay, and both door jams. It was rather simple. I removed the black plastic piece on the door jam, took off the inside door covers, taped that off, and taped off the whole inside of the car, removed the bolts on the door jam, and sprayed. Sorry I dont have any pics of how i did that but its rather simple.

This is my first FULL car that I have painted. I painted the left side of my 97 cause some nark used his key on the whole side. That worked out ok, the shade is a little bit different but its not really noticeable. I painted a few things here and there. But this was my first full car. My father gave me some good knowledge of the art.

The paint dried perfect, just a little dust that settled on it. But that will come out once i sand it down/buff it.

The gun my father has includes a mixer, it is propelled by the air to keep the paint mixed, even.

yeah man thats nice... I REALLY wanted to do a metallic color too, but everyone I talked to said that I shouldnt cause if you go too thick the paint will run and youll be able to see it in the flakes...

I donno, I still might though since it looks so nice... Ive got a really expensive gun too- a SataJet... So we'll see

Looks real nice. Looks a lot like the WRX color scheme with the blue paint and the gold wheels.

Hey Fiznat, the pictures on your Eibach/KYB Sticky are all broken links now. I'm planning on doing that settup in the next few days. Any chance I could see those pics again?

Where's your Dad's shop? My car desparately needs to be painted...if it's too far away, how hard is it to paint the car? I'd be willing to devote days upon days of tiring work just to do it right. Also, can the painting tools be rented? Thanks!

BTW, really nice job.

Beautiful paint. I didn’t know it was a factory Nissan color, what cars has it come on?
