So I just got an 01 pathfinder LE for free from a coworker. It has a bunch of problems like rear death wobble, IACV, etc. I replaced the trailing arm bushings today with poly and that's all set now. I have a question about the P0740 TCC solenoid code. The trans shifts perfect and over drive works but the code is there. Could that still mean the TCC solenoid is bad? I already ordered one and its on the way but I would like to know more before I replace it.

Problem #2 is the ABS light and the 4wd light come on together after about 20 mins of driving. Also I don't think the ABS is working at all because the brake pedal goes way down before actually stopping. I inspected the pads today and they all look good as well as the fluid level. Could an ABS sensor be causing the ABS to not work at all?

OK, lots to cover here.

First, welcome aboard, and congrats on the freebie!

RE: the trans, let's see what happens after you replace the solenoid. I suspect that'll actually handle it. Common issue.

RE: ABS... The two lights together tell you something - but we'll come back to that. Your description of "ABS not working " is lawed - if the pedal goes to the floor, that's a brake system problem (likely a bad master cyl) but doesn't mean ABS isn't working. To test ABS, you need to induce skidding (not recommended, if your brake system is already compromised).

My bet would be bad ABS sensor(s). You can check each one for resistance, or just replace them.

Keep us posted!

Did you try clearing the code with your code reader?

Thanks for the replies. I did clear the code and it came back after 10 min of driving. This morning the OD light flashed but over drive was still working. I ordered a new OEM Nissan TCC solenoid and it came in today, so ill replace it this weekend.

As for the brakes, they work great other than having to press about half way down before they start working. I guess I will put some fresh pads on and master cylinder and go from there. Is there a thread on how to check the ABS wheel sensors with my ohm meter?

Maybe your brakes just need to be bled ?

There should be info on testing the ABS sensors in the FSM in this section.
