Hello all. Great site and great forums! Very informative to someone new to the Z.

Anyway, to clarify I bought a 2003 350Z (Touring) M/T with 17k miles and in MINT condition for $18k. The previous owner is 53 years old and only drove once in a while. This guy kept meticulous records on this car. Everything ever done to it (i.e. oil changes and dealer fixes) is all in a manila envelope. What more could I ask for?

Well, it's not for me. It's a Christmas gift for my wife. It's hiding in my neighbor's garage (I kept the key in case he got some funny ideas). She (my wife) has no clue she's getting this wonderful machine.

Took it for a long drive last night just to get it out of my system. I have never enjoyed driving anything as much as I did last night. My blood was pumping and my adrenaline flowing.

Just wanted to tip my hat to you fellas. You have much more experience than I with this ride and I hope to learn from you guys as I pray my wife will let me drive it every once in a while.

Welcome to NICO!

You are the man for buying your wife such a nice car for Christmas. Make sure you take more enjoyable drives though....nothing like a Z car

High Five for the Z! She must cook a mean dinner for you to give up the keys to that badboy. Good luck!

Well, I have a plan for the Z.

Background info:I bought my very first Nissan back in July. It's a 2006 Murano SL AWD (Touring). Absolutely LOVE that vehicle. So, we've been kicking around the idea of getting her a Nissan too. Our first thought was the Maxima. Ya know, for when we have kids, she has a back seat.

Then my little brain started churning out a masterful idea. I can buy her a 350Z and then once she's pregnant, she can start driving the Murano and I have the Z all to myself!

She doesn't even know I "slid" that one in on her.

Thinking ahead.....way to be man!

The new Murano's are super nice btw. Easy to work on, have nice features, etc. I'd rock one as a family vehicle.

truth be told she cheated before I bought the car, but I did not find out till after the fact. I was not buying her a car that was better then mine anyway, and that was in 2003, 350z where brand new cars, and I know that you never buy the first model of new car.

that 's not always true, if you had a "64.5" or to those in the know "early 65" mustang it's the most collectable, if you bought the early 70 240Z it had 2 fewer counterweights on the crankshaft weighed less and had better carbs than later models and is far more collectible than any other 240Z, Nissan took their time making the 350Z remember the first concept (4 cylinder front wheel drive) was completely scrapped (thank god!) and they still took 3 years to develop the Z33 using an engine that was not new at the time and a Diff that's been around since the late 70's, I suppose the 05 is the model to have so far as it got the hp boost and now the new 07's has a few more ponies to make it more desirable, and I don't know taht the Z33 will ever be as collectable as a 240Z but thats because the 240Z was the first of the Z's the Z33 is just the latest incarnation

now as a collectable your correct, but in just the car itself, the first 350z had alot of recalls and the 04 had almost all the bugs worked out.

good thing warranty and recalls are in place to save the consumer from any possible disadvantages of a first year offering

sad thing is I would likely have an 03 is they would have let me drive one when they came out, I was not crazy about the styling when they cam out, and before I plucked down the cash (yes I was saving before they came out and was gonna pay cash) but they dealer wouldn't let me drive one without signing the contract first, so I bought a new truck instead
