Welcome to Nico,
Yes what Rich says. Make sure you sign the paper at the verry end when you done with all your inspections.
Here is what I usually do. I start with walking around and really closely check all the pant job. Make sure you get the car somewhere where you can see swirl marks. I usually ask them not to clean it so I can se how it is. We know if they put a nice coat of wax on it you won't see the inperfection they try to hide. Also check out the tires as Rich says. Check out the dates when they were manufactured.
Go inside the car and first check your shift knob. I know it sounds stupid but on the 08 that is the only thing left they can scratch up. There is a little aluminium piece on the top. It is actually not aluminium it is just a plastic and it can get scratched really easily. Check the leather, dash, check if everything is in working condition. Check the lights, seats, steering wheels, sunroof adjustments make sure they all working.
Take it out as Rich say for a 10 minutes test drive. Try everything on the car.
Once you done with all then go over the paperwork. Make sure you read everything. This is the time when they are eager to see you sign it and you can play your game. If you would like to mod your car this is the time to ask about it. You'll be surprised what they willing to do this time. Since they put all their effort in to sell you the car and it still can fall apart the deal(walk away). If they say yes you can and I would ask to put that on the paper too.
If you find anything wrong with the process do not sign the paper till t is solved or at least on paper they will fix it. Even with that I effy about that. I rather not sign paper till it is what it should be.
I think you already know these just to make sure not missing anything.
