I've had my 2102 M37X for about 10 days now, and the check engine light came on this afternoon. (for the 2nd time actually, last week I got the gas cap warning, and dealer checked and reset the light). No prior warning of anything, but I looked under the hood and noticed the coolant was low. Would something this simple cause the light to go on? Is there not any sort of separate warning for this sort of thing?
It's still under warranty, so I'm taking it in tomorrow morning to get checked out, but I thought that may be a lot of trouble for just a little bit of coolant that needs topping off.

You have a 2102 M37? Damn! Post pics...I wonder how they look in the future... :P sorry, couldn't help it.

Yes, coolant could trigger it I believe as could low PS/brake fluid. I remember on the Y50, if a combination of lights came on on the dash (including check engine), that it meant your brake fluid was low or something similar.

Thanks. and sorry for my fat fingers, but I'm glad you found humor in it. By 2102, if we are still driving cars, they had better be flying, Back to the Future promised them by last year...........

apparently was a 2nd occurrence in a week of the gas cap leak. they don't have one in stock, so they are keeping the car overnight to get one. which I thought was a little odd.

Unlike the brake fluid (which has a Level Switch), and the power steering (which has a pressure sensor), I don't think the coolant system has any way to tell you it is low on coolant. I believe only the temperature is monitored in the coolant system.

Let us know what they find.

it wasn't coolant that set the light off. it was a leak at the gas cap, but I did ask them to check and top off the coolant while it's there. Replacement Gas Cap is on the way.
