Hi everyone! I know there are probably a million stickies on here that have answers for me, but if I get busted on here at work, well I'll get fired. :D

I just bought this car and wanted to know good places to start for inspection. I am taking it to a very trusted mechanic, but what sort of questions should I really be asking? Also, any ideas on mpg? Currently I am averaging 13 mpg (!) and that is driving mostly highway miles with cruise on. I do not accelerate quickly and have yet to even attempt to floor it.

Would really appreciate your input on this, I hear my boss so time to go! Thanks everyone in advance!

Welcome to Nico!!!

Normally, I would check stuff before buying, butHow many miles?Service records available? If no, then based on miles, might go ahead and flush fluids.Check belts, brakes, rotors, fluids, panels for damage, possibly plugs (again, based on mileage), Tires, air filter.

Thank you!

Well its a high mileage car, 108k, unfortunately. I couldn't do as much research on it as I would have liked. It was a once in a lifetime opportunity to get a g35 with my crappy credit. But I digress.

I contacted the dealership and was able to find out that it was taken in for all the recalls.

If it was serviced by Infiniti, they should have records. If not, did you get a carfax?? Sometimes they show service performed. If you didn't get a carfax, I would go ahead and buy one to see what it shows.Sounds like you do need to get the fluids flushed and plugs replaced, or at least checked to see if they had been replaced. Belts are pretty ez to replace. If you look in the FAQ's you will be able to find FSM (Factory Service Manual) for your car that has lots of info such as how to replace your belts, replace your coolant, etc...
