Hi all, wanted to introduce myself. I live in Colorado, and just purchased a 2011 M37x (Premium) I moonlight white two days ago with 78k miles. This is my second Infiniti, I owned a 2008 G37 and sold it a couple years back because I was moving back to Colorado and didn't want that much power in a RWD (doesn't mix well with snow  ). So have AWD now, and plenty of room in the back for a car seat!

(Here's the only picture I have of it so far)

I took the M over to my local Infiniti service department today, because I bought it from a small car-lot that I didn't quite trust, and quite honestly didn't do any maintenance on the vehicle before putting it out on their lot. I noticed that the brakes sounded bad the first time I drove it, and the pads looked low, so I mainly wanted those looked at, had them do a full inspection just to be sure everything looked good. It looks like the brakes are getting low (3mm) in the rear but not terrible, and from what I've seen on here, some brake noise is to be expected in these vehicles.
The only other concerns that they found were just old/dirty fluids. Transmission, transfer case, front and rear diff, oil, brake fluid, and coolant all in need of a flush/change. A little disappointed that a dealer would put a car on their lot like that. But I guess I did have a chance to check that before purchasing. Oh well :gotme

A couple things sounded a little fishy when the service department was giving me a quote today, the main thing that I can remember right now was that this vehicle needs some special sort of ATF? I was told that I'd be quoted a cheaper price if I went elsewhere to have the transmission flushed, but that it was because other places don't use this specific ATF and it could possibly mess up my transmission. I'm know that places will often say things to get more money, but wondering if there's any truth to this? I'm pretty mechanically inclined, but transmission stuff isn't anything I've ever messed with, so not very well informed I guess.

Anyway, I'm glad to be a part of this forum, I've been lurking a bit and found quite a bit of good information on here! Thanks! :wavey:

Welcome to the forum.

Yes, personally, I would only use Nissan Matic-J or Matic-S or whatever it is these days for the transmission...

Thanks!
Alright, good to know. That's probably what he was referring to. These guys seemed pretty honest, I just am wary. So thanks for the input.

One more issue I've been trying to figure out that I forgot to mention:
The courtesy light under the outside door handle on my driver side door isn't working. I'm assuming it's actually the bulb itself, because the lock/unlock button on the handle works just fine. I posted about this in the DIY light replacement thread and Debonair was able to find something about replacing the entire handle, but it's hard to tell from Infiniti's wording if that solution is because the bulb itself is un-serviceable, or they simply don't sell the bulb by itself. The service department today said they haven't seen one go out yet, so they'd have to research it.
If anyone out there has run into this and has any input? It would be greatly appreciated!

Definitely have the dealership service department do transmission flushes. Everything else can be done at home if you have even just a little mechanical skill, a way to raise the car like a jack and stands or ramps, and a decent tool set.

Check your settings. Not sure what menu they're under but I remember reading in the manual that the puddle lights can be disabled. Or is it just the drivers door? Because then it would be the led. You could replace it if you're good w disassembly. You could prob get a replacement at Radio Shack if they still have those around you. Or a car audio shop could prob sell you a couple leds.
