Hey there guys,
First off I want to say THANK YOU for all of your insight. Really helps. Well I am new here and needed to ask a question. We just filled up the fuel tank last night and did not realize until it was too late that our new car only takes premium (92). ( I put regular in (87)) We drove it and did not see any issue, none that I could here or visually see. I was just wondering is it going to harm the vehicle in any way since I mistakenly put regular instead of premium? Please advise....

Welcome to NICO, and congrats on the new car!

So what I would do is wait until you're about half a tank, then fill with premium. Since it's new you should follow break-in procedures anyway so you will not hurt anything. Once the tank is empty, fill with premium.

The car's ECU will prevent any damage from the lower grade fuel, you just might lose some HP.

To break-in my G37, I kept the RPMs under 5k and did not use cruise control until 3k miles. During break-in, you should not let the RPMs stay at a constant speed for long periods of time. (Short trips are ok to use)

At 1000-1500 miles, change the oil. Doesn't have to be synthetic, just need to get the break-in oil out. This is the period where you should baby the car...no fast starts...no heavy braking. (it will take will-power!)

Change the oil with synthetic (highly recommend Royal Purple) around 3k miles and drive normal.

OOPS! I didn't baby mine. It has under 100 miles and I already had it up to 115mph. Oh well.

Joe603 - When you changed your oil for the first time at 1000-1500 miles, did you also change the oil filter, or did you just drain the old oil and replace it with new oil? Sorry if this is a dumb question.
