Post

Hi. I have searched the forum and Google and wasn't able to find an answer to a couple questions, but if I missed something in my searches I apologize for being a dweeb.

I just bought my first Q45 - a 2002 with 50K miles (believe it or not, only driven 20k since 2006!!). My questions are about chipping and ITB02-048.

I am considering chipping it but I don't know what my options are or the cost. I would like some info and recommendations. I don't need the ultimate or extreme, but it would be nice to squeeze a bit more out of the car if possible and reasonable.

Also, does chipping eliminate the need for the ITB02-048 upgrade if my car has not already had that done? The dealer I plan on using won't release any service history info until I actually have the car in my name/possession (good for them!!) and the car is still in transport.

Second, I have read that the actual TSB indicates the VINs that the TSB applies to. As much as I have tried, I can't locate a copy of the TSB itself. It isn't listed in the InfinitiHelp page for 02 Q45s, unless it has been given a different number.

Any thoughts, comments and suggestions are welcomed. Thanks.

Impul makes a chip for your model. Unsure if it works for the USDM model. New they run about 3k. A bit expensive for a minimal gain

:welcome: to NICO!

I think the TSBs you're looking for are:

ITB02-040 - 2002 INFINITI Q45; 5-2 DOWNSHIFT DELAY/HESITATION AT 3/4-WOT THROTTLE AND 40-60MPH - Applies to all 2002 Q45s.
ITB01-038a - 2002 Q45 Hesitation/Delayed Throttle Response. - VIN Range up to JNKBF01A*2M006185 / Built before 07/04/2001.

I don't see the ITB02-048 TSB listed anywhere - although there are plenty of references to it with a google search.

Let's hope they have already been done on your car.

Good luck!

Heath

Thanks for the information. I do have the details for ITB02-040 and ITB01-038a, but am glad to know that someone far more knowledgable than me was unable to confirm or find the other. As far as chipping, it seems that it may be too expensive for me. I can live with that.
