Guys,

Got my new Versa for about 2 months now (1600 miles so far). It is SL with CVT. It runs great, gets about 29MPG so far.

3 questions:1. Bluetooth hand-free feature: It fails to recognize command twice so far (even for simple command like "call"). The first time it failed, I went through the voice training to make it work again. A few days ago, it stopped working again. Anyone saw this issue before? 2. When I picked up the car, in the pile of the papers that I was given to read or sign, one page says the car can not be fitted with chain (for winter). This is not a big deal to me as where I live there is no snow. Do you know why Versa can not be "chained"? Just in case I decide to venture to Lake Tahoe in Winter.3. The keyless entry/start feature is cool. But I have done it twice that I forgot to stop the engine before I stepped out and locked the car. Luckily both times were corrected right away (I think the car beeped as warning). Did anyone do this, too? How long did the engine idle before you realized?

Thanks in advance for your feedback.

hiya!

my understanding is that cable chains are ok just not "chain" chains. at least i hope that is the case...i'd like to take the occasional winter trip to tahoe too!

sorry i can't help with your other issues, but i am sure someone who can will be along shortly.

Welcome aboard bro-skee for your number 3 statment...

The first day I took the car home, I thought the car would just shutoff as soon as I left the car, (I was like DUDE this car is the $#!@% and I was positive that everytime I stepped into the car it was already started up for me....Untill I realized the engine was on while just checking out the ride in the drive way...The engine was soo quiet I wasnt used to it)

But I left it on for a good 7 hours...LoL

Must admit I've never had that problem - I just say "Call" is a slow but strong voice.

No offense - but we should all pay more attention to the machine.

1. My Bluetooth is real spotty on the voice recognition, too. Doesn't seem to matter how I clearly I enunciate or the strength of my voice. I just live with it since I very rarely call from the car anyway. Both the button on the steering wheel for answering calls and the clarity of the microphone when talking to people are fine.

2. I have no idea on chains. Seems like the temperature has been over 90* every day since we bought the car a year ago. I don't foresee this car ever being in snow, either. We use the heavier and bigger Rendezvous for that.

3. Can't say that I've ever left the engine running. 38 years of driving; turning it off is a well ingrained habit. I do like the way the Intellikey system alerts you when you get out of the car with the engine running (I've done that to open the door for my Mom or to get something out of the hatchback).

Expecting the car to turn off automatically caused me to chuckle about an old auto insurance claim. Years ago a guy bought a motorhome, one of the very first with cruise control. Took delivery of it on Thursday; totalled it on Friday. He'd never seen cruise control before (it was new to the marketplace) and assumed it was like an autopilot. On his way to Las Vegas up the 15 freeway on the high desert he set it and then went in the back to make a sandwich. Most surprised guy in the world when that thing left the highway.

I've used chains on my versa and have not had a problem I'm a snow freak in the winter...is it a lease? with leases and rentals you are not allowed to use chains because if there not put on properly it can cause a lot of damage!
