Just got a a 2011 G37S limited Edition Malbec Black with Red Leather....sweet car. My question- what are grounding wires and why do I need them? Also, any benefit from changing just the air filters to K&N without doing a whole intake system? Thanks, I'm just getting started on this car since my wife rolled my 2009 Maxima 3 times.

You do not need grounding wires. I wouldn't use a K&N filter but thats just me.

Congrats on your new G! I've used oil covered air filters in the past and never had any problems. However, for my new G, I went with R2C and it uses the dry-type filters. It has been a great mod and I highly recommend it!! As for the grounding kit, I've heard mixed reviews. If you have an AUTO, you may benefit...

Here's a link for the R2C: http://www.importpartspro.com/r2cpepopekit.html

Wooohoo! Congrats!!!

Change out your whole intake system with either the Cold Air Stillen Long-Tube Intake Gen 3, or the R2C which is a short-ram intake system. People have seen different gains from both. Many swear by the Stillen Cold Airintake system. This is a long tube system which fits 2 air filters into your grill.

Grouding kits are just money gimmicks.

Grounding wires may be helpful if you are building a large stereo system...otherwise no real proof they increase MPG or performance.

K&N is good/bad. Good is that it's reusable. Bad is you have to deal with oiling it and if you over oil it you can trash your MAF's.

Welcome to NICO!!!

Thanks for the input, sounds like grounding wires may not be necessary for me and the intake system mod will probably be done after I get some break in mileage on it and the first servicing done. I have a K&N Cold Air Intake on my Tundra and it made a noticeable difference, but I suspect this engine with the dual intakes is already tuned pretty well and has enough air coming in so it may not help as much. Also, warranty is an issue since it's brand new. Thanks again.

Nissan does a pretty good job at designing intakes and this one is not bad. Full intake replacements show at most a few hp difference and that's not really noticeable. As for warranty, it won't cause any issues with it since, by law, they would have to prove that your aftermarket modification caused "x" damage that they are fixing.

My solution the the K&N when I had the max with the injen intake was to have 2 filters. Have one cleaned and oiled and let sit in a freezer bag. From it sitting with drain the oil that is too lose. Work great. I changed it every 3-6 months.
