Hello guys! New forum member here!

Bought my beautiful 2010 Infiniti M45X 115K miles about a month ago. Bought it from a reputable dealer who claimed that they performed their 100+ point inspection and there were no warning lights on the dash.

This is my first V8 and I was so excited. Unfortunately I am having two issues after only couple of weeks of driving and started to have some doubts if I made the right choice buying this car.

1. AWD light comes and stays on randomly - mostly when accelerating from a stop or when turning. The Torque app and my BT OBD scanner did not read any fault codes.
I think I have a bad wheel hub bearing and will be replacing the front wheel hubs in the next couple of days. Not sure if a bad wheel hub would be the cause.

The bigger issue...
2. I drove home this car (1000 miles distance) and did not have any issues (except AWD ON 35 miles after I left the dealership). In couple of days after I got home I noticed that the coolant tank was empty with only some coolant visible in the narrow part on the bottom. I refilled the tank to the MAX line and again in couple of days the coolant went to the bottom in the narrow part with just 20-30 miles of driving?!?

* There are no warning lights on the dash. Engine does not overheat. Engine temperature is perfect.
* There are no leaks under the car or in the engine bay. I removed all plastic covers (top and bottom). Not a single drop of antifreeze in the engine bay. No wet spots inside under the floormats.
* No white smoke coming out of the exhaust? Had my brother in the driving seat revving up the engine while I was watching for some kind of smoke. Absolutely nothing.
*Inspected the oil - looks good. Fresh oil change has been done at the dealership.
*Inspected the valve covers - the only thing that I noticed is some is some oil around the PCV valve in the left valve cover (ordered replacement already)
*Not sure if this would help, but exactly the same thing happened with the window washer fluid and I did not use it all. I topped it up to the top and in couple of days there was fluid only on the bottom.
I am in FL - could it be evaporation?!

Will be extremely thankful if someone familiar with these cars gives me some more input. Thank you!

Hello, and welcome to the forum.

With the AWD light issue, my first thought would be a bad vehicle speed sensor on one of the wheels. I am not sure if having only one faulty one would trigger the ABS light as well, or not.
Here is the link to the factory service manual. If you have some time, look through the index to find the specific sections and it will most times walk you through the troubleshooting steps, possible causes and solutions for most issues.

For the fluids disappearing, do you know if the car has been in a front end collision? That's the only way I can see a full reservoir losing fluid drastically as there could be a crack/hole which limits its true max level. However, you should see a patch on the ground fairly quickly.

The other theory that applies for the coolant side is that the system isn't really full. It's possible that someone flushed the system and didn't fully purge the system of air when refilling. If your stars align, the system will keep draining your reservoir until the engine and radiator have their fill. You could verify this by opening the radiator cap to see where the level is.

Welcome to the forum!
Sorry to hear you're having issues. I'm in South Florida and I can tell you that evaporation is NOT happening. I'm sure you already expected that a car with over 100k miles will need repair / replacement of multiple parts in the next couple of years. However, if you drove it for 1,000 miles with no break downs and no CEL, that should be a good sign. If you didn't notice any puddles under the car overnight, that seems mysterious to me. A radiator leak could conceivably only occur whilst driving without you seeing it drip.
I'm with Ed. Keep filling the coolant reservoir until it stops draining into the radiator itself. Check for cracks and hose issues in the washer fluid tank and all connections on the radiator. Maybe also replace the radiator cap. My dealer "told" me that the cap must be replaced at each flush service - dunno why.

Thank you for the responses.

I refilled the coolant yesterday and left the car seat for about 20 hours. Coolant level did not drop at all. So there should be no leak in the reservoir itself.
My new original Nissan radiator cap arrived today and I put it on.

Today I tried to bleed the coolant system and also performed the head gasket test with the liquid. Everything is OK so far - no exhaust gases in the coolant.

Will drive it couple of days and will let you know.

Welcome to the forum. I have the same car, only owner. Cannot say anything about your second issue, but....

Simple qs before you look into possible bigger issues. Have you checked the tires? When my tires are close to needing replacement, it slips much more easily. You say it is your first V8, and even as a heavy car, it can move. Possible pedal heavy foot need a little adjustment.

I'm having a coolant issue as well. At first, a rather large amount of coolant within the reservoir was disappearing each time the engine on my M35 was shut off. No leaks from what i could see. I replaced the upper radiator hose as well as the radiator cap and the coolant is still disappearing but the amount has slowed down substantially. Oil and coolant look fine too. No overheating, no smoke from what i could see, etc. Its been difficult trying to pinpoint the cause. Radiator has always shown fluid at the top as well every time I checked.

Would the coolant reappear and the level rise when the car was turned back on or did the car just continuously eat the coolant?

Also, how long of a period are we talking here, a year, few months?
And if you're adding coolant into the system, how much do you estimate you're adding?

Well, b/c the upper radiator hose was leaking it...the amount I'd have to refill was quite a lot. Depending on how far I drove/how much the car warmed up. If I did a 30 minute drive, i'd have to refill at least a quarter of the reservoir up. Radiator always stayed full. I figured out that between the faulty radiator cap and hose was why so much was vanishing (combination of evaporation/leaking hose). I replaced the cap last week along with the hose/clamps. I'm still keeping an eye on it. Car never runs hot. Temp gauge always stays a notch below the halfway mark which is what the manual says is normal temp. The car is still losing coolant but I'm going to give it a week or so before I make any decisions about what to do next. Probably gonna rent a pressure tester to double check the new radiator cap today, take the reservoir out and inspect it for tiny cracks, and just continue to keep an eye on the coolant level. If I continue to lose coolant through the week then I'm letting a shop find the issue.

From reports here, the V6 seems to be tricky to bleed properly and you might have some air stuck in the system. Here are some instructions to help, if you've already checked things visually.
