Hi everyone im new to this site and just picked up a 06 m45 ..i tried the search function but came up with nothing..My car has the xm radio and i just signed up for a 2 month free trail.Last night i went out and tried it and worked perfect. This morning i go out and start the car and it wont work.Last night when i used it i didnt start the car so i tried that again and it worked perfect. So now the only way it will work is if i press the ignitiopn button twice and then start the car from there.Just wondering if anyone else had this issue.Another issue im having is during the day all the lights on the speedo will be very bright then switch to dim then back to bright. These arent major issues and arent really that big of a deal just wondering if anyone else had either of these issues.Anyways i love the car and this site is great .Ill try to get some pics up when i get a chance.thanks

you may want to first check your battery (particularly under load), especially if it hasn't been changed since the original.
our Ms are notorious for having a lot of electrical gremlins/probs when the battery is weak/dying.

Not sure about the XM, but the lights dimming might not be an issue. There is a dimmer button on the gauge cluster itself (left of the trip reset button) for the gauge brightness during the daytime. Note that holding this button for ~2 seconds will enable/disable the needle sweep on startup. As for night time brightness, the control for that is located near the side view mirror controls. Let us know if that solves your issue.

Thank you!!! Gotta love these forums. I replaced a wrecked 2006 M35 with a 2006 M45 and wondered why the gauges didn't sweep when I started the car. Now they do.

Regarding the dimming, could the lights be set on auto? Anytime the lights come on, the dash dims. This can be overridden by turning the gauges to full brightness with the lights on and changing the nav to manual day/night, but you'd want to turn them down any time you drove at night and manually change the nav to night. Personally, I find that to be a pain, and don't want headlights that are so expensive to replace turning on and off for no reason, so I generally leave the headlight switch in the off position instead of auto. Unfortunately, I have no clue on the XM, that just makes no sense.
