I didn't think my old battery was too bad, until I put in the new Optima.

I ran the battery dead, while working on the struts/upper links. So, I put a new Optima battery on the list (waiting for cash). When I went out of town for a week, the battery was nearly dead when I got back.

The car starts much faster, now.

The new battery is much smaller, and the stock hold-down is too tall. I had to put some spacers in, to get it tight.

I got the Red top 800 CCA one. Definitely worth the little extra $$

..i just got a free replacement for my red top and its over 2 years old..good deal..redtops dont release energy as fast as a normal battery so if you have autostart, and your always playing hard,it turns the starter slower.but the power last longer.just something ive noticed.so if you bump alot you may want to engage the starter longer to compensate for it.that5s what i did.

I have had an optima in one of my vintage cars for almost 6 years. It will sit for months at a time, and still crank like crazy. I love it, and I'm sure I would be well into the life of my second conventional battery, so even the $$ work out. We also have an Optima in the Q and it works great. But, many people report that they can be problematic in newer cars. I have been told, and can confirm empirically that they sometimes will not take a full charge off the cars electrical system. So if it gets really run down, for whatever reason, it is best to charge overnight with a trickle charger. I bought one Optima from the OptimaBatteryStore online in an evilBay auction. Great price, fast and good service, free shipping.Alan

My Red top cost me $150.

It is a little more than a standard battery, but the replacement warranty is phenominal.

Red Cap is US$109.00 at the PrepBoys. Used the plastic protector thing that comes on top of the new battery as an under battery spacer - it's in the instructions. I also have one that I installed at the same time in the Porsche - must have saved 20lbs of dead weight. Can't say enough good things about them. FWIW, BoydC puts them in new $250k hot rods.

An Optima battery is always a good idea. I've bought six, for six different vehilces. There are no downsides except higher initial cost. Fitment used to be an issue. For years, there was one size, and it was up to the customer or installer to make it fit into the OEM compartment. BUT as of late, Optima has released several red top sizes for better fitment in a wider range of vehicles.

Nah, no pix - no camera. It's a 1983 911SC Schwartzmetallic sunroof coupe that I got out of a barnyard - filthy and with an inch of frozen muck in the floorboards. I've spent (obscene amount) fixing it up. Not being a purist (Porscholes) I've removed the a/c (80lbs), boost heater, radio, rear seats, and huge battery. Runs on 6&7x16s Fuchs with Fulda 205 & 225s. I have a pair of 8x16 Etoiles for the rear that will get Yoko AVSs. I'm adding the Weltmeister strut brace and an Autopower roll bar at the moment. I used to manage an IMSA Porsche team and driving school. The Q is sooo much more comfortable and I can cruise at a higher rate in the Qship, but the SC does keep one's skills honed.john

I was originally going to get a red or yellow top deep cell but changed my mind when i found another that had over 900 CCA and it was half the price. I don't remember exactly what it was called. Might have been duralast Gold. So far it's been great
