I just spent this weekend driving from Nissan dealer to Nissan dealer looking for the old oil filter (15208-60U00). It seems as though, once the number is superseded in the parts list, the new part is used and the old part just sits. I found several dealers with one or two left on the shelves and one dealer had 18, and they were all happy to see them go.

I now have twelve filters, enough for three years. That will put my Q well over 175K miles. Plus, they were “Buy two get one free” so they came out to about five bucks a filter.

I found one dealer with 8 cases of filters but they were not for sale. That parts manager said they found a clear difference between the filters and considered the old filter to be superior. They were holding these filters for their good customers that take care of their cars (300ZX and Maxima SE). What an interesting response from a dealership.

Great find! I have a good supply on hand, but eventually I'll need to find a good replacement...unless Nissan brings back a better filter. Any ideas on an aftermarket filter that's as good as the 60U00?

Unfortunately, no longer a Nissan or Infiniti, but continuing here at NICO!

Has anyone opened them up and formally compared the 60U00 to the 55Y00 yet? I seem to recall that someone was going to do so ... Fred? Was it you?

I just had an oil chance done at the local Infiniti dealer and he used the 55Y00 ... I am going to do far more often oil changes if needed (right now, I use the 3750 mile "in-between-other-services" approach).

Comments anyone?

I've got 4 of the old filters stocked up....

They'll last me until warranty expires.

I'm doing a change every 4K miles at this point. Last 2 changes, the Mobil 1 was still relatively clear/light brown at 3K.

is the mobil 1 filter as good as everyone says, at least compared to the old nissan filter, or at least, for an off-the-shelf filter????

I think the 55Y00 is still a good filter, though its clear that the 60U00 was reserved by nissan for its more hi-end applications.

I couldnt bring myself to cut up 2 nice perfectly good filters. My source on filters has dried up too.I have 7, 60U00 left. The MOBIL1 filter is as good or better than the old one but it costs $12-13.The bosch is probably decent at same price...

Fred...:)
