Hi everyone my name is Jim. I joined nico back in 2003 when I bought my '03 G35 6mt. Did a lot of mods to it but ex wife took it in the divorce back in '09.

As a replacement I bought a '99 BMW 540 which I loved driving but hated repairing. After a couple of years of use, It eventually died of a mechanical failure that would cost more to repair than the car is worth.

Image

As a stop gap I bought an '03 i35 which I grew to like and reignited my Infiniti love.

Fast forward to a few months ago when I was actively car shopping. I was looking to buy a used Mercedes e63 but after reading about all the expensive repairs I nixed that idea. Which brings me back to here. About a month ago I found this '06 m45 with 87k.

I haven't needed to do much to it yet. Rear brakes are squeaking so I'm planning on getting a set of R1 rotors and pads. So when I do that I'll replace the brake fluid also. I have a set of 20" niche Misano's on the way as all my wheels are curbed to an embarrassing level.

Searching through the forum has answered a lot of my questions. A big thanks goes out to everyone who has contributed valuable info here.

Yesterday I went to the tire shop to have the Niche Misano rims I ordered installed.

Image

Test fitting on the car showed like they were going to stick out the rear fender by an inch.

Image

But once the suspension was compressed they tucked in nicely.

I was able to install the oem wing over the weekend. My main motivation for buying the wind was to cover up a nasty key scratch that was there when I purchased the car.

The template went down down perfectly.

I used my spring punch to mark the holes.

a couple of pilot holes

volia, wing magically installed

I love how it looks and it covers most of the scratching on the trunk lid.

Went out to my car on Sunday night to find it completely lifeless. Car was running fine just two hours prior. Jumped the car and it started fine but I knew I was living on borrowed time with the battery. I decided to spend a bit more and go for the optima battery. I used one in my G35 when the original went Kaput. I had to disassemble most of the under hood covers to get at the battery. I found that I had no battery hold down so the battery was just rattling around in its box. I also noticed that the air inlet for the HVAC pulls from right behind the battery. Seems like a poor design and I can't help but think that some of the recent nasty odors in the car have been coming from my old battery bubbling off. Having all the covers off allowed me to wipe the engine bay clean with a damp cloth.

I also installed my billet aluminum oil cap that's good for a solid 3 horsepower.

One question though. The car sat in the O'Really auto parts parking lot with no battery for about 1.5 hours. No my one touch auto up on the windows doesn't work. Is that a dealer programming item because I'm not finding windows in the settings

You have to reset your windows, and sometimes the sunroof too. Look up those keywords for any Nissan and you should find the procedure.

Basically you roll each window up using the normal mode of the switch. When it gets to the top, hold the switch in one-touch mode for some seconds (I do it until I hear a click). Do the same thing going down. Works for many other cars too. Some don't seem to care whether the windows are opened/closed in one-touch or normal mode

Thanks, that worked excellent. I had my one touch windows back up working before the car warmed up.

You betcha! :bigthumb:

Curious, are the foul odors gone with the old battery now?

I haven't noticed any unusual smells since but I have a couple of febreeze air fresheners stuck in the vents so the car smells like a big dryer sheet anyways.

Yesterday the family and I went for a quick road trip. Specifically the bridge that crosses Bixby Creek just north of Big Sur California. This bridge is in the opening credits and is a filming location used in a climatic scene of the HBO series Little Big Lies.

While we were there taking pics, three other cars showed up all there for the same thing. One couple on travel from New York drove all the way down from San Francisco to see it
