Hello.. I am new to this forum let me say that I appreciate the knowledge that has been shared here. My girlfriend purchased a 94 J30 about a year ago. It has been an excellent car to date. I found information regarding the intermittent dash light problem on this forum, thanks, she thinks I'm a god now! When she purchased the car it had 95k miles (It had a slight ticking everyone including myself concluded was just a sticky lifter). She dutifully had the timing belt changed last month as well as the tensioners and the water pump @105k mi. Over the last couple of weeks the "lifter" noise became increasing louder. Today she took it to the mechanic that did the timing belt, she was informed the oil pressure was low ie not enough oil to the heads. The mechanic informed her it could be the oil pump or possibly seals. If anyone has experience with diagnosing this further I would really appreciate the help.

i would say the motor is probably worn out... If the oil pump is truely shot then youre going to want to replace everything anyway since lack of oil pressure has probably fried the bearings. Good news is that it shouldnt be a big deal to find a new motor for hte J30.

Thanks for the feedback, probably a wise decision with our lack of knowledge of the history of this motor. Any suggestions on suppliers on the west coast? Thanks again!
