You need thinner oilr your pump is having a hard time pumping that 10-40 through there. Try 5-50 or 0-50. the first number is what your engine pumps the oil at wehne you start it. The second number is what it runs at constant. and if your running a turbo you should deff run synthetic try 20w50 0r mobile 0-w50.

Your pressure should actually be higher from a weightier oil...

Your pump may be failing. I wouldn't drive it until you inspect it further. There is definitely something wrong.

Motor oils don't need anymore additives.

I did think that the pressure should of been higher with weighter oil but then i thought that lighter oil has easter pass and should build pressure faster? When i rebuild the motor and up the oil in and started driving it the press was like 17 pis at idle then once the oil got older the oil pressure was around 25 at idle and around 60psi when reved to 3000rpm.

Pressure should build immediately after startup, regardless of the oil weight.

If you're starting your motor with cold oil, you should get about 70-80 psi of oil pressure right away. The oil is much thicker when it's cold.

When you're all warmed up, 25-30 psi at idle and 60psi at 3000 rpm doesn't sound bad at all.

Sounds like your pump is on its way out. Inspect it before you drive or start the motor.

When i start it cold I do get like 75psi. but at idle its like 13psi!how can i inspect the pump and how will I know if its going bad??When i was putting the motor back together i checked the pump it seemd fine unless theres a special way to check oil pumps??
