i didnt understand anything you just said.lilpiton wrote:Ill try that but its kinda weirg cause my boy has the same kind of motor and when his car was running the oil press was good with the same 10w 40 I will give that i try, thats what i was thinking of doing too.
Ding ding ding ding ding!mattblancarte wrote:Your pressure should actually be higher from a weightier oil...
Your pump may be failing. I wouldn't drive it until you inspect it further. There is definitely something wrong.

I did think that the pressure should of been higher with weighter oil but then i thought that lighter oil has easter pass and should build pressure faster? When i rebuild the motor and up the oil in and started driving it the press was like 17 pis at idle then once the oil got older the oil pressure was around 25 at idle and around 60psi when reved to 3000rpm.mattblancarte wrote:Your pressure should actually be higher from a weightier oil...

Pressure should build immediately after startup, regardless of the oil weight.lilpiton wrote:I did think that the pressure should of been higher with weighter oil but then i thought that lighter oil has easter pass and should build pressure faster? 4 bar or 4psi??? If it's the latter...sommmatt wrote:My KA oil pressure at idle is 4.
When i start it cold I do get like 75psi. but at idle its like 13psi!how can i inspect the pump and how will I know if its going bad??When i was putting the motor back together i checked the pump it seemd fine unless theres a special way to check oil pumps??mattblancarte wrote:

If you're starting your motor with cold oil, you should get about 70-80 psi of oil pressure right away. The oil is much thicker when it's cold.
When you're all warmed up, 25-30 psi at idle and 60psi at 3000 rpm doesn't sound bad at all.
Sounds like your pump is on its way out. Inspect it before you drive or start the motor.
