Awesome find on the youtube video.

Too bad we won't be getting that motor in the US. Money is on the MR18 being in the US spec model.

Amazing animation cool find!

That engine looks like it is HELL to work on. Imagine removing spark plugs? Screw that noise, I want something a little more simple...

It didn't look bad at all. Remove coil packs, remove spark plugs.

No, it's an HR. We don't get the HR in much in the US yet, because it's a low-displacement motor. We do get it in the ultra-base Versa 1.6 Sedan, though. The HR's supposed to be a good motor.

If my calculations are correct, and they probably aren't.

The motor would have 187HP and 177TQ

Anyone want to confirm? Also, is it save to say it's a HR16DET?

If thats the proper HP it would be a nice, and probably direct bolt up, swap for a Versa/cube. We could probably use the same transmission

Hell, 187 is better then 122

I think that's correct.

Eh, there isn't THAT much more going on there... its got a turbo and variable valve timing (as well as variable ignition timing), but that's about it.

In regards to the spark plugs. All of the newer Nissan engines, at least the MR/HR series have come with 100k mile spark plugs.

does anyone else find it odd that cylinder's 2 and 3 are firing side by side at the same time? Is that even safe?

They probably aren't firing at the same time, but they are stroking up and down at the same time. (One might be on compression stroke, while the other is on exhaust), get it?

HR16DDT. Add another D for direct injection.
