My first post, just purchased a 1970 510 4 door. Fairly clean ($1,000)has a L20B in it. I am going to tare it down and start with the body paint, mean while I want to gather the best choice for the drive train. I want to make 250-300whp. What are my options? Turbo the L20B? Swap the motor? ???What do I need to do to run wider rear rubber? (no wide fenders)Shortened rear end? Best/Cheapest way to do that?Brest dollar on a brake system?Any help and other ideas thoughts are deaply appreciated. thx.

It all depends on your knowledge of cars or at least your skills with a wrench I would say. Buying a kit (mckinney) picking a engine and taking it 2 a shop would prob b your best option if you have absolutely no clue. 250-300hp is certainly a reachable number for any of the popular dat swaps out there (ka,sr,vg,vq). Ol skool subaru's have by far the best rear end/dif options out there for 510 with their factory lsd. As far as suspension, find a good donor car (s13, 280z,z31) and start swapping or you could just sell it 2 me!

for the power you're looking for, the SR would proabbly be the cheapest and most reliable way of getting it.
